I grabbed his face, angled it to mine, before I kissed him and hard. It was a moment before he responded to my forceful kiss. I shived my tongue past his lips and through his teeth. It took him a couple seconds for him to put his hands on my hips and responded to my forceful tongue. I nipped his bottom lip gently and took  better advantage of the entrance he granted me, his tongue massaging mine now. My fingers intertwined with his hair and I tugged, earning a low moan from him. I kissed him harder before I pulled away.

"Listen up, Christopher Samuel James," I said, looking into his beautiful green grey eyes, which were currently dialated with lust and surprise. "What happened with Christie is the past and that's where the memories should stay. You've moved on and appearently so has she. What she did to you wasn't right, we both know that, but seeing her again shouldn't send you into autopilot. I know she hurt you, I get that I really do, but baby, now you're giving her the power to keep hurting you when you and I both know that she doesn't even deserve to be able to do that. So stop thinking about it baby, snap out of this whatever this freaking  is and just come back to me because I'm tired of dealing with you when you won't even look at me."

His eyes pinned me in place and he nodded. "How could I not look at you? You're beautiful. But you're right," he mumbled begrudingly. I giggled as I reached up to caress his face. It was good to have him back, even if he was only starting to come back.

"Flattery will get you nowhere, Chris. And what was that?" I asked. "I'm not sure I heard you correctly, babe."

"You're right, baby, and I'm sorry" he said, cheekily before kissing me softly. "Thank you for snapping me out of it. I'm sorry I wasn't me." I grinned.

"Glad to know that you know, and it's ok. I've been down that road before and I know its hard to get out of it," I said, truthfully. He chuckled and hugged me close for a second, his arms wrapped tightly around me. His stomach rumbled, sending the both of us into fits of laughter.

"Let's go to lunch baby," I said, dragging him away from his office and towards the elevator.

*

During lunch, it seemed like Chris was making the effort to forget. He stayed in the conversation and was acting like himself, granted a slightly distracted version of himself, but himself nevertheless, which I was glad. I know it's hard to make yourself forget. As of a couple months ago I went through that and God knows what that took, and he seemed like he was doing okay.  When lunch was over and we walked back to the company, he escorted me up to my office and he gave me his usual gusto goodbye kiss that left me breathless and wanting more. I giggled as he smacked my ass before he went on his way to his room. I took my seat and began working. It was nearly an hour later when my phone rang.

"Savanna Blackwell,  EIC," I answered, my eyes still trained on the screen in front of me. Work was a pain, but having to go through it again was a real pain in the ass. I should have paid more attention this morning, but the outcome from it was something I wouldn't change no matter what.

"Hey baby, it's me," Chris purred through the phone. I rolled my eyes at his greeting, cheesy, but cute when it came from him. "I need you to come up to my office so we can start planning for the next book."

"Be there soon," I said before I hung up.

I grabbed a notebook and pen before I left. I might need to take notes over what we discussed. I headed to the elevator.  Chris was waiting for me when I got to his office. He greeted me with a small, gentle kiss before we got to work.  Sitting across from him with my feet propped up on his desk, I took notes over what we came up with to do; more press for our best seller, the date for the next book release, book tour, and the cover for the next book. We started planning a book tour for the author first. The author needed to head to the biggest cities, NYC, Chicago, LA, you know the works. I wrote down the dates so we could remember and so we could make changes if we needed to after we cleared things with the author.
