I closed my eyes, enjoying the familiar melody from the piano. I place the cup containing coffee on top of the plate and open my eyes.

My eyes wander around and stopped at where it feels right ― at the pianist. Her ponytail hair bounce ever so lightly as her fingers press on the black and white keys.

I wonder how and where she learned the piece. My fingertips felt tingles and numb from nostalgic. Deja vu hit me as she finish the last bar of the song.

yuna

The pianist that I had yet to know the name get up and sat not so far from me. She took a sip of her coffee, or tea as she enjoyed the view outside.

I took it as my cue to approach her. A small tap on her shoulder make her turn towards me.

"Hey," I said.

"Hello," her lips curved and formed a smile.

"May I?" I urged towards the empty seat beside her.

"I don't even know you," she laughed awkwardly.

"But I know about the piece you just play," I replied.

A playful smile plastered on her face. It took her a while to allow me to sit beside her.

"Where do you learn to play the piece? It sounds beautiful," I immediately blurted out.

"Woah, no introduction or whatsoever," she grinned.

"It wouldn't make us a stranger then. I would like to keep our relationship as a one day thing. Just so you know, I hate attachment," I retorted.

She raised her brows in amusement. "Alright then, stranger," emphasizing the last word to tease me.

"I learned that from my sister," she started.

"Sister?," I adjusted my position.

"Yup," she took another sip of her drink. "I have five siblings including me and she, was the oldest one. I'm the middle one,"

Was.

I didn't pressed the topic any further but continue listening to her story that piqued my interest.

"We all pursued in one thing and I, for an example, ballet," she chuckled before continue, "My oldest sister loved piano a lot and dad bought a digital keyboard for her to play anytime,"

"I see. Did she taught you the piece?," another question being ask.

"Not really. She gave me her notebook that had only one song before she left for Syria as one of the medical helper. I didn't know it's a song that she wrote," her eyes were glistening with crystal tears.

"What happened to her?,"

"Died. She was the last person to leave the place before it was bombed," she gritted her teeth in anger. "Stupid sister. Never think about herself first," she spat out.

I looked at her before turned towards the busy city of Seoul.

"I had a girlfriend before too," I said. "She died in Syria as one of the medical helper,"

From the corner of my eyes, I knew she snapped her head towards me with eyes wide.

"I helped her composed a song and the title is, I Need U,"

She gasped as we said the three words out loud.

"Is her name Park Ryu Na?,"

I flashed her a quick smile before hop off from the seat that is actually a stool. She copied my action and looked up at me, with hands stuffed inside her jacket pocket.

"Park Yun Hee. I don't think you're from here," she stuck her hand out for me to shake.

"Sugawara Koushi, from Miyagi in Japan," I return the gesture and I cracked a small smile.

"What a small world,"
