Peter analyzed his situation in a split second as the crocodile approaches. The crocodile attacks and Peter dodges, the monster's mouth snapping closed right next to him. Peter quickly grabs the crocodile's nose, trying to hold its mouth closed. Human arms stand a much better chance of holding a crocodile's mouth closed because, while it can close its mouth with an enormous amount of force, the muscles it uses to open its mouth are relatively weak. Peter's knows he's taking a huge risk, however, willingly putting himself in the crocodile's face and making it mad.

Peter quickly pokes each of its eyeballs are hard as he can, still trying to keep the crocodile's mouth closed. The eyes are its weak spots. Injured, the beast miraculously decides to swim away. Peter slowly backs out of the water and far away from the pool. He shudders. That was very, very close.

He takes the fish he'd already caught before the crocodile attacked and returns to his camp. He feasts, he sleeps, and he wakes up the next morning.
