Peter hesitantly goes into the cave, realizing he has no light. This is so stupid, he thinks, but what choice do I have? He walks deeper into the cave, loudly, so that any animal that would run away from people knows he's coming. It's not as deep as he thought. In fact, it's small enough that he didn't require a light after all. He couldn't read a book in there, but at least he could walk from one end to the other confidently. His curiosity, for once, has paid off. He knows that the chances of this happening are very slim and, for the first time since waking up in the woods, considers himself blessed.

He shivers. It's getting colder. I need to make a fire before it gets dark. Peter goes outside and gathers some kindling, forming a small pile just outside his cave. He then takes off his glasses, for which he is more grateful than ever before, and tries to catch the sunlight and set his kindling ablaze.

After a lot of hard work, Peter is successful. Exhausted, he decides to go to sleep. After a long night, he wakes up safely in his cave.
