Mom wrapped her arm around me as the Luna came in, her black hair long and braided back. She was gorgeous, with ivory skin and cat like green eyes. Her ears were larger, but the rest of her was dainty. Like a pixie, almost.
She sat down next to me, her power radiating and making me feel a little better. Something about the Alpha and Luna that just felt right. But that's how it's supposed to be, isn't it?
Luna Marie held my hand in hers. "Alex thinks you're going to find your mate." She giggled, the sound like a flowing river. It was natural, easy.
I widened my eyes, shaking my head. "No. This young?" It hardly ever happened. Most people found their mates when they were like fifty. Some even older than that. Part of meeting your mate was fate, but most of it was really good luck and chance.
Luna Marie shrugged. "It happens. But before you decide to leave us, which I'm not mad about, exploring is important, just stay a couple days."
I removed my hand from hers and pinched the bridge of my nose. "And why does Alpha Alex think that?" I asked, tired and ready for the night to be over. It's not like I was going to leave any time soon even if I did really want to leave.
Luna Marie stood up and placed her hands behind her, military stance. Her dad, Marshal, was the pack trainer/Gamma of the pack, and she was raised and bred to fight. Even though now she was a practical Queen, she still had those basic maneuvers locked in her mind.
Meanwhile... my dad was just in charge of the financials. It sounded like a big job but honestly... it was just counting, recording, and spreading money to where it was needed.
"Because your emotions are going everywhere, trying to match up to how your mate is feeling. Can you feel your wolf pacing." Alpha Alex Hurth himself and my dad walked into the room, both light and happy.
My dad elbowed Alpha Alex in the arm. "Hey you have all those Alphas and their heirs coming tomorrow, huh?" My dad wiggles his brows at me. "Luna Quinn... that's adorable."
I looked to Alpha Hurth who agreed, snickering. "Yes. Men are coming tomorrow. I wouldn't be surprised if you had an Alpha or soon-to-be-Alpha as your mate." Alpha Alex cleared his throat. "I will excuse your earlier statement at the dinner table." He wanted an apology. Freaking Alphas, always thinking they were above everyone else. Oh wait... they were.
Alex Hurth was a buff, tall, guy with blonde hair and baby blue eyes. He had freckles dotting his face that almost made him look childish but I knew otherwise. Under his cute complexion was a monster that could rip into another wolf with ferocity and anger quicker than lightning.
My mom looked at me with a pointed look, nodding to Luna Marie. Luna Marie wrapped her arm around Alpha Alex and smiled embarrassingly.
"I am sorry for... calling you both rude people with no filter or care for others personal business and privacy." I bit my lip as the other adults starting laughing. "And for yelling at the dinner table." They waited for another moment. "And for saying that the only reason you're asking me is because you're insecure about your own opinion on things."
Alpha Alex ran a hand through his blonde hair. "Oh that's quite alright. Well, thank you for dinner Mr. and Mrs. West. We really must be getting home now. You guys take care."
"Here! I can show you out." My dad left his position of leaning on the doorframe to show the couple out.
I stretched my arms up. Luna Quinn, huh? I guess it did have a ring to it. But, I think they were wrong.
You could never tell when you were going to meet your mate. It was supposed to be a surprise. Along with that, there was no way I'd be mates to Alpha blood... was there? Me? Irresponsible Quinn Macy West?
