Secret Dragon Technique - Ice Dragon Tempest

The dragon gave a wickedly menacing grin, and eerily, the expression was mimicked on Haylee's face, revealing long white fangs instead of normal teeth.

"Holy Shit..." whispered Grey, absolutely clueless as to what to do with the huge monster staring at him.

The dragon flicked it's tail, sending shards the size of swords flying towards him. His eagle dropped, dodging the shards, and flew up, soaring full-circle around the evil summon. Grey looked for a weak point, but it didn't seem to have any, after all it was just an animated block of ice with evil intentions.

'I'll have to try and wake up Haylee, and get her to pull her magic back into her...' he thought, formulating a plan.

"Ice make cannons!" Grey called, willing them to appear as part of his Eagle. He immediately shot two cannon balls at the beasts head, catching it's attention. It roared, enraged, a few ice scales falling from its head. The weather around them worsening as the temperature dropped.

Grey forced an extra amount of magic into the eagle and adjoining cannons so they wouldn't vanish instantly when he made a new summon and could continue distracting the frozen dragon.

With that done, he jumped from the eagle, summoning another and landing on its back. His plan was to keep the Dragon's attention focused on his previous eagle, so he could swoop down and snatch Haylee, wake her up and break the bond between her and the monster which was sapping at her magic.

They tilted as the eagle entered a dive and Grey leaned to one side, ready to grab Haylee. The dragon was still being bombarded by cannon balls to the head, so thankfully he didn't notice them. As the dive levelled out and they got closer, Grey reached out towards Haylee, suddenly aware that the cloud below them wasn't solid, and if he fell he'd fall straight through.

They were almost a metre away, Gret with his arms outstretched, when Haylee's head whipped around, the glowing white eyes boring into him. As though moved by some other force, she bent backwards, to an angle which looked almost impossible.

'Shit.' thought Grey, as his arms flew over her and he lost balance, flailing uselessly before falling straight of the bird. He smacked into one of the dragons coils, managing to scramble on to the top, just a few down from top coil that was wrapped around Haylee. He risked a glance upwards to see the dragon bend it's body backwards and snap up his eagle, it's body shattering into shards before falling down through the clouds never to be seen again.

The dragon seemed to give another toothy grin, satisfied with it's annihilation of the pest, which was again creepily echoed on Haylee's face.

This confused him greatly. Summons don't have a conscience. Heck, they're chunks of ice, they don't even have brains. Yet this one was different, it had an aura of hatred and malice. And it was controlling Haylee, instead of vice versa.

While he was clinging for his life and reflecting on these strange issues, he hadn't noticed that the dragon's head disappeared from view. It was only when he felt the freezing chill on the back of his neck that he looked up, Haylee's white glowing eyes boring into him. His muscles tensed as he realised what was behind him. He turned his head, slowly, coming face to face with the monster. It grinned again, sensing Greys fear, but then adrenaline kicked in.

Grey launched himself from the coils, throwing himself onto the Dragon's enormous head. He scrabbled up its face, the glowy white orbs that made up its eyes wide in shock and confusion, and grabbed onto the two huge ice horns on top of its head. The dragon finally got over its shock, and started shaking its head frantically, trying to throw Grey off. Grey clung on for dear life, using the larger horns to anchor himself, careful not to pierce himself on the others.

Grey knew the summon was incomplete as the monsters magic was still connected to Haylee, it hadn't drained her yet, so he still had the chance to end it before it became independent and most likely slaughter everyone.

The dragon paused its head shaking, probably trying to think if a more efficient way to get the human off his face. Grey used this opportunity wisely, and quick as a flash created a long ice sword, with which he then lunged at the dragon's left eye. The blade went straight through easily, and it screeched in pain, it's eye evaporating with an 'pop', leaving a dark void behind it, showing the dragon was completely hollow. The dragon thrashed around, roaring angrily and snapping uselessly at the air in front of him.

Grey noticed Haylee was bent back in that awkward inhuman angle again, as if age had no backbone, and was staring at him with one unblinking white eye. But just one, for the left was back to her normal glassy blue, blinking slowly like someone who has just woken up.

Grey went to lunge for the right eye, having to let go of one of the horns. This time, somehow the dragon knew what he was doing and rapidly jerk it's head to the right, flipping Grey over so he was precariously dangling from the dragon's right horn. However, he was now face-to-eye with it, and he smiled smugly as he drew back his arm and drove the sword through the remaining eye. It screeched, and ear-piercing sound like nails on a blackboard.

There was a gasp as Haylee came back to her senses, bolting upright and panting, the eerie white light vanishing from her eye. Grey smiled as he felt the flow of power reverse as Haylee pulled her magic back from the dragon, she was OK and he'd beat the dragon.

But his smile quickly faded when he noticed the large diamond scale at the end of the dragons tail fall from its body. Followed by another. And another. The dragon was falling apart tail-first, the scales falling more rapidly as they retreated up its long body. Grey then remembered how high they were, and began to plan a way back down.

He used the Dragon's eye sockets as a handhold and climbed back on top of it's head, then dropping of its nose and landing right behind Haylee. She seemed dazed, and didn't seem to register his presence. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her out of the remaining coils of the disintegrating dragon. The scales, almost identical to the dragon he'd just defeated, that covered most of her body where slowly retreating back into her skin like they had that one time in the hospital.

Greg summoned an ice eagle and jumped on, hauling a now unconscious Haylee on after him just as the last coil vanished, followed by the neck and a small explosion as it head blew up into tiny shards.

Grey shakily flew the eagle down to land outside the guild, holding Haylee tight against himself, yet still confused by his own protectiveness of her. The eagle landed and evaporated along with the remainder of Grey's energy, and the pair dropped to the ground, Grey joining Haylee in unconsciousness but his grip on her not loosening.
