"Grabe namang bawi 'to, beh." Jho says as she pops a handful of yellow Skittles in her mouth. She looks cute kanina habang busy i-organize yung candies by colors. Kaya pala hinila nya yung dalawa kong kamay at binilinan akong wag malikot when she emptied the entire pack on my hand. "I admit I badly needed a break din eh. I've been really busy lately with volleyball and exams. Idagdag mo pa yung sandamakmak na school works to be passed."
"Same here, beh." I agree, throwing a blue skittle on mid-air and catching it with my mouth. "Besides, I really missed hanging out with you guys."
"Miss ka na rin namin, Beh. Anyway, Smores please!" She says cutely like a kid habang nakataas pa yung dalawang kamay. We were just chilling kasi at the beach front, just right outside the beach house. Meron pa kaming bonfire since it gives a more relaxing setting.
I sandwiched a piece of toasted marshmallow with graham crackers and slid two pieces of Hershey's milk chocolate bar and handed it to Jho who grinned at me. "Yaaaay!"
Parehas kami nito eh, totally a sucker for sweets. Actually, kaming apat nina Mich. We like food in general talaga but desserts will always have a special place in our hearts.
I made a whole plate pa since alam ko naman yung appetite namin ni Jho.
"Beh, can I ask you a question?"
"Yeah, sure." I smile, grabbing my fourth bottle of Smirnoff na ngayon ay nangangalahati na. Nakita kasi ni Jho na nabitin ako sa inumin namin kanina kaya nag-prisinta sya to buy more sa malapit na convenience store na nadaanan namin kanina habang I set up the place. "Just ask away."
"Kung walang Maddie sa picture, would you have a crush sa team?" Jho asks. Natawa naman ako sa tinanong nya. Now that I look at her, medyo namumula na sya. Mababa talaga tolerance nito sa alak eh. Nakaka-dalawa or tatlo pa lang ata 'to.
"Merong Maddie eh." I chuckle.
"What if nga kako. What if wala kang Maddie, would you go for someone sa team?" Pangungulit nya.
I sigh. Hindi naman titigil 'to. "No."
Natawa na naman ako nung lumaki yung mga mata nya na para bang shocked at sobrang curious sa sagot ko. "Hindi ako naniniwala. I'm sure you're lying. Wow, the great Bea de Leon, lying to dodge a harmless question. So, sino?"
"Oh, please. Your question is anything but harmless. One question at a time, Jhoana. Anyway, turn ko na." I say, dodging the topic easily. Madali lang naman na sigurong lokohin 'to since may tama na rin. "What's the cause of your last break up?"
Naubo naman sya sa kinakain nya kaya I quickly hand her the nearest liquid I got my hands on- which is yung bottle of beer ko pa. "Wow, beh. Ang sensitive natin ngayon ha pero third party. We broke up because I wasn't good enough for him."
"Trust me, I know that feeling." I chuckle as I joke, popping some more skittles in my mouth.
"Okay, my turn. Who's your crush sa team?"
I laugh. "You really won't let that go, do you?"
"Nope. Hindi porket nakainom ako, madali na akong utuin. Well-trained ata 'to ni Michelle Morente no! So, sino nga?"
"Alam mo ikaw, di ko alam kung anu-ano mga tinatanong mo. You should stop drinking na since namumula ka na." I chuckle, grabbing the bottle of alcohol from her hands. "Weakling."
"Grabe ka sakin, Beh." She pouts. "Pero alam mo, I think I know kung sino yung pipiliin mo kung wala kang Maddie ngayon."
"It will always be Maddie over anything and anyone else, Jho. Nothing and no one can change that." I say simply as I let my mind drift thinking about my beautiful girlfriend. I admit na napaisip ako sa tanong ni Jho. What if kung wala nga akong Madeleine ngayon, would I still be the same? Would I be better? Would I be lost, thinking about anything and everything else?
