CHAPTER THIRTY FIVE

I woke up feeling restless, madilim na ang paligid at maingay na sa labas. I've skipped the day activities para makabawi ng tulog. Babawi na lang ako bukas, tutal naka-schedule naman ako ng hiking mag-isa.

Ayoko pa sana bumangon pero nakarinig na ako ng katok sa pintuan.

"Mongs, tama na jan, kailangan mong sulitin ang binayad mo dito." Kuya called out for me.

I stretched then got up and opened the door for him.

"Tara na. Tulog ka na lang buong maghanpon." He walked past me and sat on my bed.

Pumunta naman kagad ako sa CR at nagsalamin. "Kaya nga bumangon na ako di ba?" Sagot ko sa kanya.

"Magbihis ka naman ng maayos para makasungkit ka ng lalake don sa bar." Kuya advised me kaya naman mabilis akong sumilip from the bathroom.

"As if namang ang daming tao dito sa isla." I caught his glance and rolled my eyes at him.

"I'm pertaining to the guy." Kuya shrugged.

"Who's guy?" Painosente effect kong tanong.

"Alam mo kung sino pinag-uusapan natin dito. I don't take bullshits." Kuya sounded exhausted and sarcastic at the same time. "Don't you think it's time for you to have someone?" Tanong niya ulit.

"I'm happy being single." I walked back to the cabinet to get myself something to wear.

"Thirty two ka na, ripe age for setting down. Ayoko namang ako lang ang magpapakasal tapos yung kapatid ko malungkot." He responded then got a throw pillow and twirled it with his finger.

"Kuya hindi ako malungkot." I answered defensively.

"You wouldn't admit but it shows." Seryoso niyang sabi sa akin. Nagkatinginan kami saglit bago ako pumasok sa CR para magbihis.

"Whatever." Ang tangi ko lang nasabi.

"We'll wait for you outside." Kuya called out before I heard him shutting the door of my room.

I took my time to make myself presentable. Hindi na ako nag-make up kasi wala namang dahilan for that at magwawalwal lang din naman ako. I sprayed some perfume before going out to join the folks.

Ako na lang ang hinihintay before we walk towards the bar. Blanc's gang is still not there when we arrived, nag-order lang muna kami ng wine and Jack Daniels for a beginner. Later on, we went to take liquors as per our taste. People are making rum cola and since halos lahat naman ay marunong mag-mix ng cocktail, sila na lang ang gumawa ng sarili nilang drinks.

I settled for mojito, ako na lang din nag-mix ng drink and never in my life have I expected to be good at this. Maybe Chronos and Moira already gave me the talent to make sure that I live up with the expectations they have set when I skipped times.

I was enjoying it at first because super close naman kaming lahat sa restuarant and grabe si Pia and Cleo magbanatan ng garapal na jokes. But once I saw Blanc's group entering the bar, my mood turned sour. Nawala na ako sa mood and nagfocus na lang ako para tapangan yung mix ng mojito ko.

"Hoy tumahimik ka na diyan." As expected, my bff Mint noticed the change of my mood. Nag-shrug lang ako then tried my best to join the gang again for their jaw-dropping, gas-forming jokes.

I never attempted to look at the direction of Blanc's group and focused my attention on my folks. Nung hindi ko na kaya magpanggap, I excused myself and told them that I will just continue drinking inside my room. Sinabi ko na lang na tipsy na ako at hindi ko na kaya when in fact I cannot believe my alcohol tolerance was so high.
