Birthdays.

They were fun. You could go out and celebrate with friends. All your loved ones would give you gifts and maybe, for one night, you would have the time of your life. What did I do on my birthday? Apparently, nothing except homework. I didn't mind it that much. I wanted it like this. Parties somehow always left me exhausted. Funny, considering my boyfriend, Harry, was an extrovert who loved attention. Speaking of him, I made him promise me that he wouldn't get me anything expensive or not necessary. I was a simple woman. I was content with what I had, even though sometimes I would clash with Harry over it.

My eyes were suddenly covered by Harry's hands. Despite it being my birthday, I wasn't in the mood for any surprises.

"What are you doing?" I asked Harry.

"Close your eyes" Harry whispered into my ear.

"Why?" I asked him.

"Birthday surprise" Harry said. "Close your eyes, please. Do it"

"A birthday surprise?" I asked, not surprised. "Should I Be worried"

"You don't trust me'h? Well, that's nice, innit?" I heard Harry say, sounding a bit offended.

I smiled.

"I do" I said. "It's just my birthday and I don't need any big surprises"

"Well then," Harry said. "For the purpose of the next three minutes, it's not your birthday anymore"

I let out a chuckle, laughing from how stubborn he was being.

I closed my eyes.

"Fine then" I gave in. "My eyes are closed"

I felt Harry's hands leave my skin.

"C'mon" He said, taking my hands in his helping me get off the couch.

He covered my eyes again with his hands.

"Can't have yeh peeking" Harry stated.

I laughed.

Harry preceded to walk me into another room. I truly had no idea what he was up to. I was pretty sure he had no idea himself.

Harry uncovered my eyes.

"Open" He said.

I opened my eyes.

We were in his office. There was a cake on his desk. A pink round cake with candles on top. Why was there a cake? More importantly, why in his office?

I looked to Harry who just smirked at me.

"A cake?" I asked him.

"Yeh said nothing necessary" Harry said. "Fig'ured yeh deserved a cake at least"

"And why in the office?" I asked, letting out a chuckle.

"Can't let yeh finding it in the kitchen, can I?" Harry asked, joking with me.

I gave a genuine smile to him. Harry held one finger up, telling me to wait. He left the office and returned a minute later with a camera and a lighter.

"Might as well do this right" Harry said.

He took the lighter and lit all the candles on the cake. Harry then opened the camera and closed the lights of the office. He pressed a button on the camera, starting to record me.

"Happy Birthday to you" Harry began to sing.

I blushed.

"Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday Y/N. Happy Birthday to you" Harry finished singing. "Make a wish, love"

I smiled. I bent down and blew out all the candles.

"Woo!" Harry cheered me.

He turned the lights on and stopped recording me. He set the camera on the table next to the lighter. I walked over to him, wrapping my hands around his neck. I reached up and kissed him.

"Thank you" I said to him.

"Jus't simple gifting, love" Harry said. "Nothing to thank me'h for"

"I don't believe you" I blurted out.

"Hey," Harry said, taking offense. "What makes yeh say that?"

"I know you H. You always have something else up your sleeve"

Harry pouted his lips at me until finally stating the truth.

"Okay, I do" Harry said. "I wanted to give it to yeh later"

"H-"

"But we're having cake first" Harry said cutting me off. "Don't yeh dare look for it while I get the plates"

"Wasn't gonna" I said.

"Good" Harry said before kissing my forehead.

He left me alone in the office.

Well, then. So much for simple gifting.
