Scene Eleven

10 years ago...

INT: Town hall

(There are many people in seats awaiting the speech by the young Phoenix)

The Phoenix:

Three years ago a man came here...he came here and gave a speech about over throwing the government...He called himself The Leader. (Somebody applauds)...No! Do not applaud him my friend...for you do not know him like I do...in three years he has taken over Britain and removed the Monarchy, he has done things which I don't want to talk about, but I will because you deserve to know...okay from the beginning...he's killed of families because they opposed him, woman and children included, he removed the monarchy by assassinating Prince Charles and threatened the others if they didn't abdicate, he's bombed Britain in acts of terrorism, if you can remember the 09/09/09 bombing of Trafalgar square. He did it to cause fear so that when u voted him in he vowed to protect you from it, he was the one causing it... (it cuts to the end of his speech)...Thank you for listening, remember I will rise in a couple of years time and I hope you will join me in the fight to bring him down...Thank you once again

(He leaves the stage followed by a group of several supporters he came with, Elsie is amongst them.)

INT: Gilmour's flat

(There are 10 of them sitting round a table, a young Phoenix is sitting at the head)

The Phoenix:

Okay...firstly I would like to say I think tonight went very well; I think we might have converted a few more to our cause. Secondly I think I need to use a code name perhaps an alias, my name is no good it doesn't send a powerful enough image, any suggestions?

(They discuss amongst themselves until someone suggests a phoenix)

Elsie:

...How about Searo?

Man 1:

...That sounds a bit odd...

The Phoenix:

I agree, sorry Elsie, I'm looking for something which give hope to these people...you know the idea that they're going get a new life out of this...a better one...

Elsie:

...Then how about a phoenix?...

The Phoenix:

...A bird?

Elsie:

Yeah a bird, but it's a mythical one...when it dies it bursts into flames and turns to ash, then it's reborn out of its ashes anew and lives life again...and it's a powerful bird, strong as well.

The Phoenix:

Cool...I like the sound of it...okay from now on call me The Phoenix, right next order of business. I can't have you guys protecting me all the time in the streets from people who disagree with what we're doing...so any solutions?

Man 2:

(Laughs) don't go outside

The Phoenix:

Yes, thank you...any more suggestions?

Man 1:

Hide your face in the rallies, afterward you can show it and they wouldn't know who it was...

Man 2:

Nah that's stupid, they might think him dishonest if he hides his face...

The Phoenix:

Actually it's not a bad idea, I mean I'll be protected from the public eye when I hide it, but when I don't wear it I can fit right it and in a way support myself as a normal person and persuade others...

Elsie:

But what would you hide your face with?

Man 1:

A mask!, you could make one that matches your name (Laughs)

The Phoenix:

I like you, what's you name?

Edwards:

Shaun Edwards sir, but I've been called Edwards

The Phoenix:

Very well Edwards, I want you to find me a mask that represents a phoenix bring it to me and we'll try it out, okay?

Edwards:

yes sir!

The Phoenix:

Okay then, meeting adjourned.

(The group dispatches from the table some leave the flat and go off home, others get comfortable in front of the TV. The Phoenix and Gilmour go off in to the Kitchen)

INT: Gilmour's Kitchen

The Phoenix:

look Gilmour...I wanted to ask you something

Gilmour:

yeah?

The Phoenix:

I was wondering , would you like to be my right hand man? My second?

Gilmour:

(Surprised) Really? Honestly?

The Phoenix:

Yeah, you've been with me for a long time, you're family and it would mean a lot to me...

Gilmour:

Well yeah , sure , of course I will , I'd love to

(They hug, shake hands and join the others in the living room)

Gilmour:

Hey, where did Elsie go?

Man 2:

not sure, she left whilst you two were in the kitchen talking

The Phoenix:

Strange, would've thought she would've said bye at least, oh well

Gilmour:

Anyone want a drink?

(They all raise their hands, Gilmour exits the roomand goes into the kitchen, he looks out the kitchen window, he sees Elsie, andshe's not alone. There is an older looking man with her, next to him is a 3year old boy)
