Fourteen- Her Name

Stiles sat on the bed, legs crossed and a notepad resting on his knee, pen in his mouth.
Scott chewed on his pen with his phone next to him.
"Any luck Scott?" Stiles questioned.
Scott looked down at his paper "Erm?"
"Me, too Scott. Let me see what you have."
Scott rolled the chair to Stiles.
They swapped their papers.

Scott reads the list of names.
He circled four names.

"Jeniffer? Scott, are you serious?" Stiles looked up.
"What? I like the name."
"Same. Oh wait, until we met a Jeniffer! And she was crazy! Do you not remember Scott?"
"I remember, I remember." Scott says. "Put a line through the name."
"Already did." Stiles says.
Scott rolled his eyes "Betty?"
"Cute! And classic!"
"Sure." Scott snorted "If we lived in Riverdale."
"Cross it-"
"Did it."
"Off."
"Ooh. This is a good one."
"Which one?" Stiles asks.
"Oakley." Scott answered.
"That was my favorite. I drew the star by it." Stiles added.
"I can tell. Can we agree on Oakley?"
Stiles nods "Oakley McCall."
Scott rubbed his bump "Oakley McCall."
It was now becoming real.
"Are you okay?" Stiles asks.
Scott nodded "Yeah, it's just..her name. She is real, isn't she?"
Stiles places his hand next to Scott's "It is real. Sometimes I still cannot believe we are having a baby."
"Me, either."
"Let's get back to naming her." Stiles says.
Scott nodded.

"Scott. I really like this name." Stiles expressed.
"Which one?"
"Sloane."
"Right! It is, I think really edgy."
Stiles laughed "It is not edgy, I just think it is different for a girls name. That's all."
"Sloane McCall." Scott admires.
"Nice ring to it." Stiles admitted.
Scott grins at Stiles "She has a name!"
"Sloane McCall." 

For the next week, the name Sloane still felt exciting. An entire chapter of their lives were happening, and changing! Both men were excited.

Stiles would talk to Scott's bump, but refer to his daughter as Sloane, and still he would giggle.
Scott found this to be adorable. And would playfully tease until Stiles pointed out that he does that too now. Scott blushed.
"It's cute. She will be a daddy's girl." Stiles smiled.
"You think?" Scott grinned.
"Of course she will be. You are her daddy Scott. You are the first relationship that she will have. And that's important."
Scott cupped his belly "Sloane is my daddy's girl."

The following day, Stiles and Scott were surprised to see Lydia Martin sitting at their kitchen counter with a cup of coffee in between her hands "Morning." She said.
"How did you get in Lydia?" Stiles wondered.
Lydia looks at Scott.
"I heard her come in this morning Stiles. She has an extra heartbeat." Scott explained. "I knew you would not be worried, so I let her just be."
Lydia waves.
"I made you both some breakfast." Lydia commented, pointing to the oven.
Stiles opened the oven. Two breakfast plates sat.
"Thank you Lydia. She does get hungry."
"I can imagine. Eat up!"
Lydia grabs the plates, setting them in front of the two "Juice?" She asks.
Scott nodded.

Lydia filled the two glasses with orange juice.
"Thanks again." Scott replied.
Lydia nods. She sits back down, and continues with her coffee.

Stiles takes a bite into a sausage. Then looked at Lydia. He points the sausage at Lydia "What do you want?"
"She wants to know her name." Scott says, looking up.
Stiles smiles at Lydia.
"It's true." Lydia admits.
Scott smirked "You could have asked."
Lydia grinned.

Scott takes another bite. Stiles too.

Lydia sets down her cup "Well!" She throws up her arms.
"Lydia, say hello to Sloane Oakley." Scott introduced.
Lydia sighs "That is beautiful."
Stiles takes Scott's hand"We have been talking."
Lydia nods.
Scott looked at Lydia "Will you be Sloane's Godmother, Lyds?"
Lydia gasps "M-me? But why?"
"You are our oldest friend."
"And you are the only one who knows how to handle a baby." Scott adds.
Stiles playfully slaps Scott "But that is true."

Lydia jumped into Stiles arms, unexpectedly. He still wrapped her in a hug "I guess it's a yes?"
"Of course it is a yes!"
"Sloane will be glad to hear that Lydia." Scott grinned, then commented.
"Every girl needs her awesome Godmother! Especially when she only has dads."
Scott rolls his eyes, as does Stiles too "Outrageously amusing."
Lydia winks in return.
"And hey, if she does not like her name she can go by Leia!"
Stiles turned to Scott, his face full of excitement.
Scott rolled his eyes "It can be her nickname."
