Out In The Woods

I sat leaning on a tree on the outskirts of the woods waiting for Seth.

I was kind of hoping he wouldn't show and instead decide to hang around Lily. Mainly because I didn't want him to get hurt if I did. Also because I wanted him to not chicken out on something for once.

However, Seth showed up, a smile on his face.

"What's got you so happy?" I asked, pushing myself off the tree and walking over to him.

"Nothing." He continued to smile.

"'nothing'?" I smiled. Seth pushed me.

"Come on. You wanted to do this."

We walked into the woods. The mood was lighter than the last time we went in. Even though this time we were going to try and find the murderer.

"So, Ty, what's the plan?" Seth said as he walked behind me.

"Find the murderer."

"And...how?"

"We know they'll be at the tree stump so...that's where we'll be."

"And what if we're next?" Seth stopped, leaning against a tree with a smartass grin on his face.

"Pretty sure there's only meant to be one more murder. There's two of us, not one." Seth shrugged and carried on walking.

"Just a thought."

We got the the tree stump. No one was there so we sat down. Probably bad luck to sit down in the place of an ancient ritual but we did.

Seth and I sat on the tree stump.

"Going to tell me what got you so smiley?" I asked, elbowing him in the arm.

"Nothing!" He protested, elbowing me back.

"Sure. I totally believe you." My guess was he'd either found out we were getting out of a test by being here or Lily had kissed him. As much as I loved the idea of the first one, the second one's good too.

"Whatever. Shouldn't we be hiden in the trees or something?"

I laughed, "why?"

"In case someone is coming to kill us."

"Pretty sure they'd know we were in a tree if they came to kill us."

I stood up, scanning the trees. Nothing. No one. Maybe we wouldn't find anyone. Maybe this is all stupid and we should just go back to school.

I turned back around. "Seth?"

I heard something behind me and turned around. Then I felt it. Something hit me in the back of the head then I hit the floor.

Everything went dark.
