"Oo. Hindi kaya--"

"L, you have to be extra careful. He might be two steps ahead of you. Just tell me anytime kung kailangan mo ng tulong ko. If I guessed it right, he's into the same track with me. He's an engineer, remember?"

Natigilan si Liberty. Noon lang din rumihestro sa utak niya ang lahat. Kung gano'n pala ay kailangan niyang magpaka-damsel in distress para hindi siya masyadong mahalatang may ibang motibo.

Nahulog siya sa malalim na pag-iisip. It was again new to her. She used to be a critical thinker when it comes to situation like this. Hindi rin siya natataranta. She used to be a calculated woman. Pero simula nang makaharap niya ang Theo na iyon ay nawawalan siya ng poise. It's as if he's her living destruction.

She snorted in her own thoughts. There's no way she will let that Montreal manipulate her. He will be her bait.

Liberty was determined to accomplish her mission without any trace of defeat. She trusts her guts... her abilities--and her instinct.

She found herself sitting on the same chair the next morning. She was on her long sleeved polo dress. Lumilitaw ang kanyang kaputian sa kulay maroon. She was living alone ever since her parents both died---iyon ang nasa profile niyang ipinasa kay Theo kahapon. She didn't bother to know how Captain Red calibrated that story.

Maaga siyang pumunta ng Montreal building at halos wala pang tao. She was also expecting Theo wasn't there pero nagkamali siya. When she entered the office, he was already there. As if waiting for her to arrive.

"Good morning, Sir."

Tinanguan lang naman siya nito. Hindi man lang bumati pabalik. She was silently scrutinizing his looks. Siya lang ba o may nag-iba sa awra nito? She avoided his piercing eyes. She didn't even give attention to his pointed nose, reddish lips, to his well-defined jaw, to his broad shoulders---

Napakurap siya nang ma-realise ang kanyang ginagawa.

"Here's your job description."

May inabot ito sa kanyang brown folder. Binuksan niya iyon at tiningnan.

"I presumed you have knowledge in stenography," sabi nito sa kanya nang hindi nakatingin.

"Yes, Sir." She made sure she answered with confidence. Bahagya niya itong tiningnan nang diretso sa mga mata. She has to appear like an ideal employee Theo could ever have. Mabuti na lang din at Office Administration ang nakalagay sa kanyang educational background.

"Good. You will be accompanying me during my board meetings and business proposal meetings. You will be recording everything during the meetings, or if necessary, you need to jot down things."

At iyon din ang pinakamahabang sinabi nito. He sounded too formal and calculated. Nakatutok na sa laptop ang mga mata nito habang nagsasalita.

"Sir, hindi ba uso sa'yo ang gadgets? Puwede ko naman siguro i-record ang meeting using my phone." Hindi niya napigilang ibulalas ang nasa isip niya.

And she saw how his face went stiff.

Bakit kaya?

"You will be recording only important matters. Hindi lahat ng pinag-uusapan ay importante, Miss Parreño."

At first time niya rin itong narinig na nag-Tagalog. She couldn't argue, it was sexy. It's disturbing that he's mysteriously gorgeous in her eyes that she caught herself blinking twice again.

"Okay, Sir."

She scolded herself inside her mind. Kailangan niyang sanayin ang sarili na makaharap ang guwapong boss niya para hindi siya pumalpak. It's a blessing in disguised na magiging assistant siya nito sa meetings. That means more time to investigate him. Mas mababantayan niya ang bawat galaw nito. She grinned in her thoughts. She was lucky enough to be this close to her bait.
