Broken man

Tussled and torn

He walked through the street

Poor and paranoid

He succumbed to his defeat

Tried and tamed

Like a ghost he lingered past

Empty and exploited

Like a barred social outcast

Dead and defeated

Life had lost all meaning

Lost and lonely

He’d given up on dreaming

Estranged and emotionless

He had lost touch with sanity

Spiteful and separated

No longer belonging to his family

Distressed and destroyed -

By his fermented problems

Savage and sickened

Until he was nothing but numb

Messy and misunderstood

Like scribbles in an exam

And he still carried on -

As a broken man.
