Five years had passed since Urbosa took me to the spring, and Father grew wearier. Thankfully we uncovered each Divine Beast, but we still didn't have a clue how they worked. For the time being, I had set aside my interest in that department, locking my notes away in my desk. I fully dedicated my time to training at the springs.

Turned out that my first visit to the Spring of Power did nothing for me just like the Spring of Courage, but I kept going back to both three times every week if not more. When I did, I stayed in one of the stables. Every time my maids accompanied me along with a handful of knights. I sorely missed Urbosa, but I knew she wouldn't allow me to pray all day and night like I had been doing these five years.

Father had given up on me and moved his focus to discover the chosen swordsman. He still expected me to train, but he could hardly stand the sight of me. He spent his time in the Coliseum most days.

I've visited the Coliseum a few times myself to see how the search was going. Not to my surprise, Link was always one of the top contenders along with his father. Close at third was a Rito named Revali. However, none of them knew their standings since it was only between Father and me. Personally, I didn't think Revali had much of a chance to wield the sword. His specialty wasn't in swordsmanship but in archery. I could tell that he grew jealous of Link who proved to be just as good at archery as he was with a sword. How could someone be naturally good at everything they tried?

On the day of the final trial, I got an idea for awakening my power. It sounded stupid, to say the least, but I was tired of heading to the two springs. There were other places I could pray. One of which was where the sword was placed. Besides, in the records, it did say the royal daughters sometimes heard a voice within the sword, so I thought it was worth a try.

Walking along the circle above where the remaining few fought and trained, I went over to Father. I watched the fight with him as I saw it was Link against his father. After all these years, Link refused to fight his father, but now he had no choice as they were both under consideration, as if we were the ones that got to choose who could pull the sword out. In reality, no one knew what was going to happen. It could easily be someone Father knocked off the list.

As Link and his father fought, I could tell Link was holding back. I'd seen him fight before, same with his father, he wasn't giving it his all. His movements were slower and his reaction time was off. It wasn't long before his father disarmed him.

When this happened, Father's voice bellowed out, echoing from every angle of the Coliseum. All the knights froze while I felt myself jump a little at his tone. Pointing down at where Link stood, he scowled with disapproval.

"If you do not fight as you would with anyone else, consider yourself an outcast!"

I gawked at Father. Surely he couldn't be serious. But he didn't back down. Off to the side of me, where Revali waited, he laughed, enjoying the moment. Though I wasn't in Link's fan club myself, Father's shouting terrified me even if it wasn't directed toward me. I would still be scared if he was yelling at an enemy.

Slowly, Link approached his father, taking back his sword. Then he looked up at us . . . at me. Before he could say much, I saw one of the men off to the side twist his sword in a strange way for someone who was patiently waiting. Then the man transformed into a member of the Yiga Clan. The symbol of the Sheikah upside down on his mask and a Wind Cleaver in place of the training sword he had before.

Father's face tightened as the man rushed Link and his father. But the Chief saw him coming as did Link. However, Link's father got there right before Link could. And because both of them had blunt blades everything went terribly wrong.

The man's sharp blade cut through the Chief's sword and then rammed into his gut in a blink of an eye. A knight threw Link a sharpened sword, giving him no time to check on his father. Knights came to the Chief's side while others rallied around Link, but he didn't need their help by that point.
