Chapter 6

I am not keeping track of the time period so time to wing it. Shush! Just go with it.
Alex's POV
Not today. It can't be today. I rolled over to my phone and checked the date. January 22nd. Shit! I groaned and woke up John.

"Babe. It's Phillip's 1st birthday. Get up!" He turned and kissed me.

"No! He can't grow up. Nathaniel is already 1 and I feel so old." I rubbed circles onto his back before lightly kissing his neck.

"Come on. Let's go get the birthday boy." I got out of the bed and walked into Pip's room. He was laying in his crib babbling.

"Happy birthday bub. You're one!" I picked him up and he hugged me.

"Papa!" What a cutie.

"Come on Pip. Let's go see dad. And then you Aunt’s and Uncle’s are coming over." We had set up last night for his birthday party because we didn't feel like doing it this morning.

I carried Phillip on my back and downstairs to the living room. John was laying on the couch on his phone when I walked in. Phillip saw him and I set him down only to have him run towards John.

"Dada!" John looked up and saw us. He sat up and let Phillip climb on him.

John's POV
"Hi Pip! Oh look at my birthday boy! You're so big!" I kissed him and he laughed.

"Dada stop!" He smiled and it warmed me heart. I love his smile so much.

"Never!" Phillip started tickling my chin and I pretended to be defeated. "Ah! Babe help! He's got me!" I heard Alex laugh and pull Phillip off of me.

"Alright Pip. How about daddy makes pancakes for breakfast!" He clapped his hands together and ran off to go play. I wrapped my arms around Alex's waist and kissed him.

"But what if I don't wanna cook!" I whined playfully. I didn't mind cooking. Besides, if Alex cooked, he'd burn the house down.

"Please baby. It's Pip's birthday. Besides I can't cook." He pushed me towards the kitchen and sat at the island. I pulled out the ingredients to make pancakes from scratch.

As I stirred the batter, Alex make his coffee. "I was just giving you a hard time. I love you, you know that right."

"Yes I do. And I love you too. I wouldn't have married you if I didn't." He kissed me quickly so I could finish making the food.

After about 5 minutes I finished making breakfast and called husband and son to the table. Alex and Phillip came running into the kitchen. Phillip was wearing his little fuzzy socks and it was adorable.

I put three plates on the table and Phillip's sippy cup as well as my coffee cup. I swear Pip's eyes widened when he saw the pancakes. I had cut them up really tiny and added whipped cream and sprinkles.

"Hungry Pip?" He nodded and I put him in his chair. I gave him his chocolate milk and he smiled. "Happy birthday Pip!" I kissed him and sat next to Alex.

"As always, the food looks amazing. Thanks Peaches." He took a bite and as always was delighted by the flavor.

"Of course. I love cooking." We ate and then watched some TV together while cuddling. Phillip was happy and I couldn't wait until we had our second child.

Time skip
At about 2:00, our door opened and Peggy came into the room.

"Hey Hoe!" She had a large bag in her hand stuffed with wrapping paper. She was getting bigger everyday.

"Hey Pegs. Where's Sally and the kids?" I took the bag out of her hand and hugged her.

"They're coming, they feel asleep in the car so Sally is waking them up."

"Oh." Another voice cut mine off.

"Wassup bitches!" I sighed, Angelica was here. You could tell it was her by the overdramatic entrance, note my sarcasm.

"Not in front of the baby! I don't want my baby cussing!" I covered Pip's ears and kissed him. The door opened again and Nathaniel ran to Phillip. They ran to his room and I greeted Laf and Herc.

"So now we're waiting on Eliza and Maria." Just then a flash of blue entered my vision and soon Eliza was hugging me. "Hey Liza!"

"Hi John! Where's the little Pipper?" Of course she wanted Phillip, it was his birthday after all.

"He and Nathaniel just ran off to the playroom. They'll most likely be out in a couple minutes. Probably to say hello Theo." Theodosia Jr. was Burr's daughter. Theodosia died during childbirth so Burr has been a single dad and he actually likes it.

Alex and Aaron made up a year ago when we found out about his wife's death. He was devastated and Alex knew how it felt to lose a family member. Once he saw Theo and Phillip together, they rekindled an old friendship.

"Hey." Aaron and Theo walked in almost nervously.

"Hello Aaron. Hi Theo." She was really shy so I crouched down and waved at her. "Phillip is in his playroom. Do you wanna go play?" She nodded and I showed her the room. I returned to Aaron and hugged him.

"Hey man. How are you?"

"I'm good. I just miss Theodosia. It was our wedding anniversary today." He frowned and I hugged him again. "I just want to be strong. For Theo. And myself."

"You're a single dad. You're more than strong. We're all proud of you Aaron. Come sit." He did and we immediately began catching up. Aaron worked at a law firm that he established. He had been working there for a while.

Time skip
We finally had everyone over and called the kids into the kitchen. Phillip sat at the table in his highchair with a cake in front of him. Yes we bought him a smash cake. It's a tradition for one year olds!

"Alright Pip, on three smash the cake. 1...2...3!" I guess he understood me because he took a hug chunk and put it in mine and Alex's face. I put some on his face and went to cut the big cake. I handed out plates and went back over to Phillip. "Happy birthday Pip. We love you." I kissed his head and he smiled.

Later everyone left and I began to clean up. Alex and Phillip were asleep on the couch and I picked them up. I carried them to mine and Alex's bed and laid them down. I crawled in beside Phillip and pulled the duvet over us.

"Goodnight my babies." I kissed them and turned off the light.

Well, Phillip is one. I put his smash cake on the side. Pintrest had nothing good so that was the best candidate. I saw Wonder tonight and I freaked when Daveed came on as Mr.Browne. My dad said he was waiting for a 'What'd I Miss' joke and I was waiting for a Hamilton reference. It never happened. I have another chapter in the works so, goodbye my beautiful turtles🐢❤
