wOw real writing for once?? its a miracle

"I'm home!" Connor closed the door behind him as he walked into the house. He tossed his bag onto the couch and slung his coat over the back of the cushions.

"Daddy!" He heard the thunder of excited feet clamoring down the hallway. His younger son slid into view, his socked feet slipping on the wood floors. But even so, he raced over to his father and leaped into his arms as quickly as he could. Connor kneeled and opened his arms, scooping his up into a tight hug.

"Hi!" He smiled as he held his little boy. "I missed you," he said as he squeezed his tighter. Being away for one week on business didn't seem so long on paper, but being away from his family had proven just how long it could feel.

Connor was suddenly jolted backward and knocked completely down by another blow. His older son had joined in the hug.

"Hi, dad!" The boy broke away, a grin spreading across his face. Josh was trying his hardest to seem like he didn't care because, obviously, nine years old is too old to be excited to see your parents. He brushed a lock of curly blonde hair from his eyes and turned around to see his other dad, smiling just as wide, walk into the room.

"See, I kept 'em alive," Evan said, ruffling Josh's hair and watching as Connor stood up, his son on his hip. Isaac clung to his arm, smiling up at him.

Connor smiled too, kissing Isaac on the nose. He giggled, but squirmed, indicating he wanted to be put down. Connor did just that, and he raced back into the playroom. His brother followed to supervise, and Evan turned back to his husband after watching them disappear down the hall.

"Welcome back," Evan muttered, leaning in for a kiss. Connor eagerly accepted, wrapping his arms around Evan's waist. He'd missed this.

"Daddy, come see!" Isaac hollered from the playroom and Connor sighed, breaking away. He took Evan's hand and brought him along to see what their son wanted. They walked into the playroom, an extra bedroom that was now the domain of Isaac and Josh.

Their son sat with his math workbook in his lap, getting some homework finished. Third grade was stressful, but math was the one subject he really liked. So he plowed through his time's tables as Isaac scribbled away at a coloring page. He looked up when he saw his dads come through the door.

"Look!" he held up his coloring page proudly. Connor sat across from him at the table and looked over his masterpiece. Strawberry Shortcake looked like she'd been in some kind of accident, but Connor smiled anyway. "Wow, Isaac, this is... uh, really good!" He grabbed a coloring page from the stack and started to fill in his own picture.

Evan laughed, walking up behind Isaac and looking at the picture. "I love it, cutie," he said happily, kissing his son's head.

"Aww, thanks," Connor said, still coloring and now grinning sarcastically.

Evan chuckled, sitting down next to his husband. He pulled out his phone to check the time. "Shoot, guys, time to go get ready for bed, it's a school night," he declared.
