Chapter Nine [Dedicated to epicERRORS]
August 19, 2021. 7:21 am.
I woke up with the sound of my phone ringing. I hugged my pillow tighter and buried myself under the covers a little more.
Bakit ang lamig?
I opened my eyes, only to close it immediately due to the killer headache that's been occuring since last night. I groaned as I tried to reach my phone at the side table. Once my hand was out of the covers, my whole body shook because it was so damn cold.
I still reached for my phone - which was annoyingly ringing nonstop.
"H-hello?" my throat was sore, causing my voice to sound hoarse or husky or whatever you call it.
"Good morning po, sir."
"Aissa? Maaga ka yatang tumawag ngayon?" tanong ko.
"Sir, may meeting po kayo ng 8 am. Di po ba kayo papasok?" tanong niya. "Sir 7:30 na po."
I jolted up in bed, then graoned immediately as I massaged my temple. "Argh, I'm sorry kagigising ko lang. I'll be there in 20 minutes." sabi ko naman.
"Sir, I can cancel it po muna. You don't sound okay." sabi ni Aissa.
"No, makakapunta ako. Andyan na ba yung kameeting ko?" tanong ko.
"Tumawag po yung secretary ni Mr. Ricardo, they'll be here in fifteen minutes daw po." sagot naman ni Aissa.
"Sabihin mong hintayin nila ako." sabi ko at ibinaba ang tawag.
Kahit hindi pa kaya ng katawan ko, tumayo ako. Halos matumba nga ako, buti na lang nakakapit ako sa side table ko.
It took a lot of strength and effort before I can even get to the bathroom. Nilalamig ako sa tubig, pero I shrugged it off. Marami akong gagawin ngayon, ayokong icancel yung mga commitments ko.
Halos hindi ako makalakad pero kaya ko ito.
Dahil sobrang giniginaw ako, I wore a suit. Eh usually, polo lang. Ni hindi ko na inilagay yung necktie ko kasi nagmamadali na ako.
Paglabas ko ng unit, lumabas na rin si Kath.
I smiled at her. "Good morning, neighbor."
She just smiled. "Late ka yata?"
"Oo eh. Di na sana ako papasok pero marami akong appointments ngayon." sagot ko.
"Namumutla ka. Sure kang kaya mo?" she asked with concern written all over her face.
I cheekily smiled.
"Kayang kayang kaya, kayang kayang kaya!" I sang. She giggled.
"Bahala ka nga." sabi niya at naglakad na papunta sa elevator. Sumunod naman ako.
I'm glad we're talking again.
Alam kong hindi pa kami friends, pero we'll get there, diba?
"Saan..." I trailed off then coughed because my voice sounded hoarse. "Saan ka pupunta?" I asked.
"Hang out with Aria sa mall." sagot naman niya.
"Ahh." sabi ko naman.
