You sigh in frustration and press your mobile to your ear for about the hundredth time, groaning as once again you heard your brother's voice mail. Drawing the phone from your ear, you checked the time. It was eleven. Eleven. He was beyond late and it didn't help that you were freezing cold, dressed in nothing but your cheerleading uniform and it was raining heavily. The recorded words were nearly finished by the time you had the phone next to your ear again. After the beep, you huffed angrily. "Hey, Scott. Just letting you know cheerleading practice finished three hours ago, no biggie. I didn't go home with Lydia because you promised that you would pick me up today. Don't know if you have a werewolf thing or you're just being a crap brother. Hope you're okay because you usually call me when this happens but clearly, you didn't. Mom isn't answering me either so I just...I don't know what I'm supposed to do. Call me back, bye." You hung up, shoving the phone in your bag. For a moment, you debated walking home but quickly decided against it just as you did every other time you thought of that option. Well, it wasn't really an option because it was too dark to see much of anything and the only source of lighting was the thunder which you didn't particularly feel like walking in. The rain was pouring, and your house was too far away. Really nice of Scott to abandon you and your mom to ignore you. "y/n!" You jumped as you heard your name being yelled and quickly you spun on the heel of your white sneakers in the direction that the voice came from, squinting to see who had spoken your name. The person ran over to you, revealing themselves. It was Isaac, one of Scott's friends. You didn't like him very much, or at all, really. Even though he had moved into your house almost a month ago, you didn't warm up to him. He was irritating and rude, someone you didn't really want to be around. His blue eyes were sparkling but not open entirely as rain was flying in ever direction, and his brown hair was soaking wet, as were his clothes. "Scott asked me to come get you." He said, slightly out of breath from the distance he had ran to reach you. "Uh, I think I'd rather walk in the rain than go with you, actually." "Well, you don't really have a choice. Your dad is in town, so your mom is busy with him and-" "My dad?!" You screeched, brown eyes widening. What the hell was he doing here? None of you needed him, nor wanted him around. His absence was the best thing to happen to you, Scott, and your mom, Melissa. Isaac nodded, continuing to speak. "Scott had to help Allison, her dad ran into Peter and-" "Scott left me here in the pouring rain for three hours to help Allison? Really?" You shook your head, rubbing at your temples. He was definitely going to get his ass kicked when you saw him at home. "Someone has the tendency to interrupt a lot, don't they?" Isaac questioned teasingly, his fingers curling around your forearm. "It was a life and death situation and you know how he feels about her. Besides, I'm here." After flashing you a grin, he tugged you out from under the rooftop, resulting in fat droplets of water landing all over your skin. The last thing you wanted was to have Isaac take you home but it was better than walking in almost complete darkness. Besides, it seemed like no one was really going to listen to you anyways since everyone always listened to your stupid older brother. That, and the fact that Isaac already secured a grip on you and the two of you were walking towards his car. Actually, Isaac was walking and you were being dragged. "Nice outfit." He smirked, his electric blue eyes scanning over you and the too revealing cheer leading uniform. You shot him a glare, hitting the hand that was clutching your arm. "You're disgusting, and I can walk by myself." He either didn't hear you, or he chose to ignore you as his grip remained firm. You decided to go with the latter, for already he proved fit of your hatred. "So, since you're a cheerleader, does that mean your flexible?" He opened the passenger side door for you, somewhat gently pushing you towards it. You ignored him, deciding whatever you said would result in another inappropriate comment you didn't really need. Isaac slid into the drivers seat, the engine roaring to life seconds after. You drew your legs up, wrapping your arms around them as you chewed on your lip. Your eyes shut as your head leaned against the window, breaths even. The silence in the car was uncomfortable, but you didn't exactly feel up to talking to him. You opened your eyes and leaned forward, quickly turning on the radio before returning to your previous position. The Smiths were playing and this caused a massive grin to spread along your lips as they were one of your favorite bands. "I like The Smiths, too." "Oh." You said quietly, hoping he didn't pursue the topic further. You thought it was rather obvious you weren't too keen on a conversation with him. "Uh, I uh, is there a reason you don't like me? You always avoid me at your house and when I try to start a conversation with you, you shut me out. Every time." You turned towards him, looking at him with a confused expression. Why did he care? "I don't like the way you treat people, is all. Why would I want to talk to someone who treats me badly?" "I'm not- hold on." Isaac sighed as his phone began ringing and quickly he drew it from his pocket. "Hello? Yeah, I got her, Scott. What? Why is he there-" He let out a frustrated sigh, mumbling to himself. "Okay but she isn't going to like that. Alright, bye. I'll see you tomorrow. I'm not going to let anyone hurt her, don't worry. Bye." You began panicking after hearing Isaac's words, your eyes locking on his. "Isaac, what did Scott say? What aren't I going to like? Why are you seeing him tomorrow and no-" "We can't go back to your house. Peter's getting desperate, he's outnumbered since Cora and Derek have come back. So he's resorted to trying to take your mom, and you, to scare Scott into making everyone back off so it's just Peter against Scott and..." "And?" You repeated, giving him a, "please just get to the point" look. "And since we can't go back to your house, Scott suggested that uh, you and I stay at the hotel a few blocks away for tonight." "Are you kidding me? I'm so not-" "You have to, y/n. We're talking about Scott's life here." "Fine, whatever. Just stop with the stupid smirk thing and your inappropriate remarks. Got it? And I want my own room. If that's not possible, make sure there are two beds. Understood?" "Yeah." He nodded, biting down on his lip. "What?" You snapped, hoping the situation didn't worsen itself. "Nothing." Isaac replied, although his tone suggested it wasn't exactly nothing. You breathed out in frustration, running a hand through your hair. --------------------------------------
"Do you have two vacant rooms, preferably next to each other?" "I'm afraid not. Most of the rooms have been occupied due to the storm. The bridge has been closed because it's too dangerous to cross so most people trying to get out Beacon Hills are staying here for the night." "Okay, what about one room with two beds?" "Let me check." The woman replied, her eyes scanning the computer screen before her. You tapped your foot against the wood impatiently, your arms wrapped around your body as you felt frozen, a thick layer of water coating your uniform. "We only have one available room on the third floor and it's a single bed. Do you want it?" "Isaac-" He turned towards you, giving you an irritated look. "y/n, what do you expect me to do? Scott said-" "No need for repeating, just get the damn room." You grumbled, teeth chattering. Isaac received the room key, thanking the woman as he handed her a sum of money to stay the night. You silently made your way upstairs, following Isaac inside of the hotel room. With the door shut behind the two of you, you walked forward, groaning when you saw the size of the bed. You would both fit, but you knew that you would be touching if both you and Isaac attempted to lay at the same time. You didn't want that. At all. You sat at the edge of the bed, glancing at Isaac from your peripheral vision. He was tugging off his wet jacket, placing it on the wooden table near the bathroom. "I'm sleeping on the floor." You mumbled, brushing the hair away from your eyes. "No, you're not. I'll sleep on the floor." "But then I'm going to feel bad. I know that... I mean, at Derek's you.." "Oh, you pay attention to me when I talk to Scott?" There was humor in his voice, and you bit your lip, glancing at your white sneakers instead of at Isaac. You felt the mattress sink slightly and when you looked beside you, he sat there. "Do you remember in the car, before Scott called? What I was saying?" "You didn't get very far." You said quietly, your eyes focusing on Isaac's bright blue ones. "Well, I was going to say that I don't always act like that...it's a defensive mechanism. You don't know how I really act. Scott does, but you never have." "If you're capable of being nice, why aren't you more often?" "Because then people take advantage of you. I...I had a lot of problems with my dad when he was still alive. After Derek gave me the bite, I was able to defend myself. I was different on the outside so I thought maybe I would change on the inside. That maybe if I wasn't so nice to everyone I wouldn't get hurt as much." "But you don't mind hurting other people?" "Some people deserve it." Isaac said quickly, shifting towards you slightly. "But you don't. I'm sorry, if I ever...offended you." You nodded, shrugging slightly in a way that could be read as if you didn't mind it much. It bothered you, the way he treated others, but now you knew why he did it and you didn't want to let him know how much you loathed it as you could already see how pained he looked. "Are you cold?" He questioned, one of his dark brows rising. "U-uhm, no. My clothes, they're just-" "Cold and wet." You nodded slowly. "You can sleep in my t shirt, if you want. It's drier than what you're wearing now." "But then you won't have a shirt to wear." "It's fine." He replied. pulling it off over his head, revealing a slightly wet and particularly defined chest in it's wake. Crap. You internally whispered, finding it difficult to remove your eyes from his torso. No no no. Just because he has somewhat of a justification for being an ass sometimes doesn't mean you're going to find yourself attracted to him, Y/N. Even though you've had bits of feelings and the occasional fantasy but..no. Nope. Not going to happen. Never going to happen. "Are you, uhm, are you...sure you don't want to keep that on?" "No, I'm okay." He grinned, seeming as if he could read all of the very inappropriate thoughts racing through your head right now. This was bad. Very bad. "I'm just going to change then...be right back." You quickly spoke, thanking him as you took the shirt and ran into the bathroom. Once the door was locked, you stripped yourself of your cheer leading uniform, replacing it with Isaac's t shirt. It came down to your mid thigh and as he said earlier, it was much drier than your uniform, almost entirely dry. His scent wafted up towards your nose and surprisingly, it was intoxicating. Stop it, y/n, get yourself together. You breathed out heavily, somewhat drying your hair with the towel that hung from a silver rack. You grabbed another one, bringing it outside and tossing it toward Isaac. "Your heart is beating really fast right now. Is there a reason for that?" Other than the fact you felt oddly tempted to kiss him? No, of course not. "Uhm..no. Not at all." "Sure." Isaac laughed, using the towel to dry off his own hair and his pants. "It wouldn't be because I'm making you have sexual thoughts or anything right?" You eyes widened and you shook your head quickly, blood rushing to your cheeks. "NO! What on earth would make you think that?" "Well, you whispered crap when I took my shirt off and I heard you talking to yourself in the bathroom." "No, I was doing that in my head." Upon registering your words you shut your eyes, cursing yourself. Great, just great. Now he knew that you were attracted to him. You merely thought you were thinking mentally, but instead you were saying everything out loud and his damned super werewolf hearing had heard it all. "But you know, that's okay. Because I'm having similar thoughts myself. To be honest, I've had those thoughts ever since I moved into your house which is part of the reason it was hard for me to act more myself around you. You made me nervous, defensive mechanism turned on." Your lips parted and you merely stared back at him, completely blanking. "And I know that you've always been attracted to me. At least, I'm assuming so since every time a snarky comment slipped your lips, you looked a little guilty and your pulse rose. When I was around you, your heart sped up. Did you think I didn't realize that?" He was grinning now, moving closer to you. You thought you would have a heart attack if he moved any closer so you decided lying might get him to move away. "Why on earth would I ever be attracted to you?" You said quickly, rolling your eyes and stepping backwards. All the denying since he moved in, all the ignoring him and being rude, it was all a cover up. For both of you. "I'm sensing a lie, and a very apparent racing heart." Now he was right in front you, his breath hovering your face. Crap, crap, crap. This was not how your night was supposed to go. "Just tell me the truth or I'll kiss you." He whispered the last part, bringing his lips towards yours. "But I think you might want me to." You drew in a sharp breath as his breath fanned along your skin, sending a shiver up your spine. "I-I um." You stuttered, blinking repeatedly as you tried to think of something to tell him. "I won't kiss you if you don't want me to. But I like you, a lot. And I want to kiss you. Also, a lot." He smiled and pressed his forehead against yours, awaiting your response. Your bottom lip was pulled into your mouth and you drew in a deep breath, trying to even your heart race. Stupid hormones, stupid Isaac and his shirtless torso, stupid feelings, stupid you for being unable to control yourself. "You...you can kiss me." Your voice came out as a whisper, and you were scared to death. But when Isaac's lips pressed against yours softly all that fear vanished. You were happy that you had finally allowed yourself to fall into him after all these months, to stop making up excuses to go after what you want. Your lips pressed back against his and you felt euphoria coursing through your veins as your body seemed to melt against Isaac's. After a few more seconds he drew away, if only because the two of you needed oxygen. "Well...it appears that only made things worse." Your dark brows drew together in confusion as you looked up at him. "Why?" "Because now I only want you more, and there is absolutely no way that after this I can just let you go on ignoring me, or me pretending like I don't have all the feelings for you that I do." "What if, what if maybe you don't have to?" "What do you mean?" "The pretending. We can stop it. It's much easier for me to hate you or pretend to do so than it is to allow myself to fall into you and risk being hurt beyond belief after you get tired to me. It's happened to me so many times but it's been months, and I think hating each other hurts more than the possibility of you-" "I would never hurt you, y/n. And I want to be with you." "I want to be with you, too. But-" "No excuses." Isaac whispered, smiling as he gently tugged you backwards. The two of you sat on the bed, Isaac's lips slotted between yours and his tongue darting inside of your mouth. Your heart was racing rapidly and you felt as if it would explode just as your hands began to run along Isaac's shirtless torso. His hands were at your waist and you had both fallen to a laying position. Isaac's kisses were toxic, luring you in more and more after each passing second. You knew Scott wouldn't be happy but you didn't care, all you wanted to do was keep kissing. Forever. Why on earth had it taken you both so long to get here? "Oh my god. Dude, are you kidding me? That's my sister. When I said spend the night with her, I didn't mean that!" Scott yelled, causing a gasp to escape your lips. He was standing at the door, a look of disbelief and a hint-okay maybe more than a hint- of anger written in his features. You drew yourself away from Isaac with wide eyes, trying to straighten yourself out. "H-hi Scott, my darling brother." "Isaac, can you come over here for a second? Or do you prefer to explain why you ignored my warning to stay away from my sister over there, with your hand still on her thigh?" Scott was fuming, completely ignoring your squeak of a greeting. Isaac drew his hand away immediately, rising from the bed and starting toward Scott. You followed and placed yourself directly between them. "Let's not forget this is your fault. You put me in this position when you left to go be with Allison so you know, you can't really blame me...or Isaac." "I left to make sure her dad wasn't killed and sent you here so you could be safe, not so you could have sex with Isaac!" Scott ran a hand threw his hair and sighed in frustration. "And seriously, man? I mean, I know you said you liked her but I told you not to act on that because I didn't want her being hurt." "Excuse me, I'm sixteen and perfectly able to-" You spoke, being cut off by Isaac. "Scott I'm not going to hurt her, and we're not going to have sex." "Yet." Scott said, giving you a disapproving look. "I'd prefer not ever but it seems I'm too late for that. Why is she wearing your shirt?" "She was cold." Isaac said simply. "Hold on a second you've had sex with Allison how many times?" "I-Well, that's different." "Sure it is." You said, a smirk on your lips as Scott frowned and fumbled for a reply. "Don't be a hypocrite. I can take care of myself, big brother."
