"Don't follow me!" I shout my last order and jump through the large open frame.

The fall is an added shock to my already sore muscles but I trudge on. My pace quickens when I begin to see the pink hues of dawn break through the clouds of the eastern horizon. I run aimlessly from street to street, turning corner after corner. With each step I fall deeper into a bottomless pit of despair, weighted by the loathing cries of my conscience. The questions pound against my head like a lunatic raging against the walls of his padded cell. Can there be forgiveness for what I've done? Will I get a second chance to redeem myself?
