"I sleep, but my heart is awake. It is the voice of my beloved! He knocks, saying, "Open for me, my sister, my love. My dove, my perfect one! For my head is covered with dew. My locks, with the drops of the night." -Song of Solomon 5:2

---

Well, you came to the end of a long day at work
And I'd been looking forward
And was joyful to be there waiting patiently for you
To talk to Me
I had sent you My love through gifts throughout the day
To show My love through provision and grace
Yet you said: My love, I'm too tired
Another time

Do you not know how much your relationship I prize?
Your voice is a song in My ears
You are beautiful in My eyes!
Yet you ask if I would hate, if you skipped a date, or call it a crime
And I say, "Of course not"
And knowing My faithfulness, you pass on with confidence and respond:
"Then, my Love, another time."

I freely gave you music and light to fill and surround
Friends, protection, and many other blessings all around
I freely and not resentfully gave these things
Because I love you and want to hear from you
To talk to Me
But the bored look from your eyes caused My heart to shatter
When you responded: Do I really need to talk to You? Let it be later
I'm grateful for You, my Love; just
Another time

You acknowledged Me but did not stay, but continued on
And because I love You, I followed
I sought you because I am drawn!
Yet this is how you choose to answer My faithfulness all along
By being, in this world, lost
Though I pronounced it good, the ultimate fulfillment is not there to find
My love, it has its seasons and its time

Why do you find it burdensome
To read My love letters and talk to Me in prayer?
You say you love Me yet you're hardly there
You enjoy the good things I've given
And weave them about to escape from being driven
There is a hard and promising road I have set before
Why is your relationship to Me, less and to this world, more?
In perfect passion I made you Mine, My love
Yet you refuse and are slow to make Me, your's
Because you say: This is a painful reality to face
And because of the long day, you're worn
And need to trade Our evening of fellowship for an evening of escape
Because you feel Our bond as a burden of labor
Instead of knowing it as the Blessing of Life!
Open your heart to Me, My Love
My dove! My perfect one!
You who hide in the clefts of the rock
In the secret places of the cliff
Do not delay and say, "Another day; another time"
Arise, My Love, and come away!
Let me see your face!
And let me hear your voice!
For your face is lovely!
And your voice is sweet!
Show without shame that you love being Mine and that I am your's
By talking to Me
