From hope deferred, my heart was made sick
The wind and waves threatening my faith to falter
Their (seeming) majesty, disturb and distract
My gaze that is feebly fixed
My soul revolts against the ordained transition
Striving for salvation through my ambition

To trust You are still shepherding me
Through Your valley of vision
You permitted the sentence of death to come
To buffet me to consider the ancient paths I run
Your purpose is not to give me a spirit of dread
But to drive my hope farther from self
And further on and deeper in You
Who raises the dead
