Meaning To Me:
There is a chain attaching the bird's head to the machine which shows how the bird will not be free unless it's head is detached from it's body (dead). The "Life Machine" in the corner is also switched off after the bird was decapitated which shows how it will only be free after it's life is switched off.
It also shows how suicidal people feel (They are the birds trapped in life).
