Joe's POV
8:30pm

(The song above, or on the side does go with this chapter, so please watch it. Again this is a sad chapter, so get tissues...And this will be a long chapter....the song is called "Hello World" by Lady Antebellum.)

I opened the door and gave Haley a warning glance. She glared back at me and walked out. "Hey, what's wrong?" I heard Sal ask. Haley shook her head and said, "Nothing, I've just been sick lately." I put my arm around Haley and looked at Sal. He gave me a look and I said, "I'm going to take her home. I'll be back in a few." Haley smiled weakly towards the others and we walked to my car. I unlocked it and we both got in. I didn't start the car just yet and I heard a small voice whisper, "Joe?" I looked over and saw Haley looking at me.

"Are you okay?" Haley turned her head and stared out in front of her. She finally shrugged her shoulders and mumbled, "I hate lying to Sal. He doesn't deserve lies." I gave her a look of sympathy and rubbed her shoulder. "Hey," I murmured, "everything will be fine. You can't tell him unless you move here. It wouldn't be fair to tell him and then leave. It is his child after all." She sighed deeply and leaned her head against the window. I started the car and pulled out of the parking spot. "I'm telling him. He has a right to know. He can still see his child." I looked over at her quickly and sternly said, "You will not tell him. You'll ruin everything between you two."

"It's none of your business what I tell Sal!" She raised her voice. I was getting frustrated with her and I turned to look at her fully. "You know you're really stupid if you tell him. You're going to piss him off," I yelled. She glared at me and yelled back, "You're not my father! You can't tell me what the fuck I say to someone!" Is she serious right now? I looked at her like she was crazy and she yelled, "Joe look out!" I quickly turned to the road and saw a car come at us. I tried to swerve out of the way, but failed. The last thing I felt was the car being flipped over. Everything went black.

Sal's POV

We finished putting everything back where it belongs and could leave. Thank fucking god. I needed to see if Haley was okay. If only this fucking traffic would move. It's never this bad. I then realized it wasn't moving. Everyone was getting out of their cars and I did the same. I walked to where everyone was and my heart dropped. Right in front of me was Joe's car and it was destroyed. It was flipped upside down, which was never a good sign. The lights from the ambulance and cop cars were blinding, so I had to cover my eyes. There was glass and blood everywhere, which made me feel sick.

I looked around for Joe and Haley, but only found Joe on a stretcher being put into an ambulance. I looked around for Haley and saw her on the ground with people leaning over her. Tears welded up in my eyes and I tried to go to her, but was held back by a police officer.
"That's my girlfriend!" I screamed. "Sir you need to calm down," the police officer said calmly. How could he be calm when someone could be dead? "She's dying! She needs me!" The police officer pushed me back and blocked me from moving. I watched intensely as they tried to get Haley breathing again, but after five minutes they looked up and shook their heads. I dropped to the ground and screamed. I cursed everything and everyone taking her from me. Tears fell from my eyes and I closed my eyes.

She can't be gone. Not this young. She has so much to live for. I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked up to see the police officer pointing his finger to Haley. I looked over and saw her start to breathe again. The police officer helped me up and walked me over to where Haley was. I could hear the paramedics asking Haley questions, but she ignored them once she saw me. She reached her hand out and I took it in mine. "Who are you?" The one paramedic asked. I looked at her and said, "Salvatore Vulcano; also Haley's boyfriend." The women nodded and told the other paramedics to get a stretcher. They told me to park my car somewhere and go with them in the ambulance. I quickly ran -yes ran- to my car and parked it. I then ran back to the ambulance and climbed in. I sat next to Haley and held her hand. "We have to stop the internal bleeding or she will die," a man said. I snapped my head up and looked at him, "You better not let her die."

The man looked at me and said, "We'll do everything we can to keep her alive." I turned away from him and looked at Haley. "You better fight to stay alive. Do you understand me?" She gave me a small smile and slowly asked, "What if I want to die?" I brushed her hair out of her face and shook my head, "I still won't let you. You have so much to live for and I'm not letting you do this to yourself." She closed her eyes and I knew she was in pain. She slowly opened them and grimaced. I rubbed small circles on the back of her hand and she finally relaxed. Her complexion was wan, (pale), and I wish I could be in her place. It hurts me to see her like this; to know that she's suffering.

Once we got to the hospital, they told me wait in the waiting room while Haley was in surgery. I went to the front desk and asked for Joe. The women told me room 121511. (If you don't get the room number then you're not a true IJ fan.) I thanked her and took the elevator to Joe's room. I knocked on the door and heard a weak, "Come in." I opened the door and saw an injured Joe Gatto lying in a bed. I walked to the chair that was next to his bed and sat down. "Joe what happened? Why are you and Haley in the fucking hospital? Why is your car totaled?"

Joe sighed and I knew he didn't want to tell me. He gave me a sad look and said, "Haley and I got into an argument." I sat up and folded my arms across my chest. Why would they get into an argument? I thought they were too close. "About?" I asked patiently. Joe turned his head away from me and didn't answer. "Joe, why were you fighting?" He looked scared to answer and quickly said, "I can't say anything. Ask Haley; she wanted to tell you anyways and I told her not to." I stood up and looked at Joe with a glare. "Sal I promised I wouldn't tell. You're going to be mad when she tells you and it'll ruin your relationship."
I shook my head and walked out of Joe's room. I was going to get the truth from Haley or Joe one way or another.
