'Sir, I love your daughter and I promise I will always keep her happy.' A young man stood in the centre of the huge living room facing a fuming older man with confidence. The older man held Sadaf's hand.

'Keep her happy? How? You can't even afford to the basic necessity for my daughter. She is used to this life, life where she is pampered, treated like a princess.'

'I will try my best to give her everything, all the happiness.'

'How? With your pathetic love and tall claims. My dear, you need money, money for happiness, for comfortable life...to live. You can't afford this life she lives.' Mr. Malik yelled at the man.

'I will work very hard, I will earn lots of money. Sir, we need love as much as money for happy life and I give them both to Sadaf. I love her.'

Mr. Malik scoffed, 'I know your love, you don't love Sadaf, you love the money...my money.'

'I don't want any financial help from you. I will manage....'

'Ahhh...' Mr. Malik waved his hand and Mizan stopped talking, 'Words, all empty words. Get out before I throw you out.'

'But sir...'

'GUARDS...GUARDS...'

Later that night, Ahyan was in his study doing his chemistry assignment when he heard his mother's panicking voice. Ahyan glanced at the clock, 12 am, what happened so late in the night? He wondered.

He walked carefully to his parent's room and peeped in, his father looked angry and tensed while his mother was in tears. He frowned.

Ahyan wondered what happened but he didn't dare interrupt his parents. He went to his sister's room but there was no one there. He is surprised.

Next day, he was shocked to know that his sister had eloped with that young man. Ahyan had seen his parents condition then, they were devasted and angry. His own love turned into hate. He hated his sister for doing what she did.

'He is my son, Mizan and that's my daughter in law, Sadaf.' Ahyan is snapped back to reality when he heard Mrs. Siddiqui speak from beside her. Ahyan is speechless, he can't believe for so long he was with the family of those who took his sister from him.

Mrs. Siddiqui took the photo frame from him, a tear drop escaped her eye. She sighed sadly.

'They are no more.' She said admiring the photo.

Ahyan recollected Mrs. Siddiqui telling about her son and daughter-in law died in an accident, now he is stunned to know his sister is no more.

'Sadaf!' Ahyan whispered, tears prickling his eyes. The only one thing he could think about is his sister's smiling face, warm embrace and encouraging words. Ahyan turned around and hurriedly walked away. He didn't even acknowledge Mahdia who stood just outside the room. She is stunned to see Ahyan hurriedly walk away. He didn't turn around once before walking out and slamming the door shut behind him.

Mahdia looked at her mother wondering if she had said something to upset Ahyan, but her mother looked as clueless as she was.

'Mahdia!' her mother called as she quickly grabbed her overcoat from the coat rack and left the house.

'What is happening?' Mariam came out from her room yawning and rubbing her eyes. With all the noise, she had woken up.

Ahyan walked furiously, aimlessly through the quiet suburban area on chilly Paris night. Tears streaming down his cheek, he didn't bother wiping them. Fresh tears brimming in his eyes.
