All this while manik was sitting thereby listening to their talks and trying to understand maddy and nandini's bond.

Meanwhile in the terrace

Maddy and nandini were sitting in the terrace in complete silence when nandini decided to break the ice.

Nandini: GD ka call tha na?

Maddy: ha

Nandini: Kya kaha unhone?

She asked cautiously.

Maddy: vohi jo humesha kehte hai. Unhe aakhir problem kya hai mujhse? Maine bachpan se lekar aaj tak unki respect ki, unki har baat maani, unki vajah se I...I lost my only family nandini (he spoke with venom in his tone) but unhe toh padi hi nahi hai. All he thinks is about himself and his fame and status. Unhe farak hi nahi padta ki how much his grandson is suffering. (He broke down) all these years he never cared but I didn't question kyuki mere parents ke baad unhone mujhe paala, mujhe unka naam diya, he gave me all that my parents would have given me but he never understood me nandini...kabhi nahi and unhi ki vajah se I could not talk to you after you came to India. I am sorry nandini

Nandini just hugged him tight to which maddy reciprocated.

Nandini: sshh its fine...its ok..I forgave you for that and ha sab theek ho jaega maddy. Ek na ek din voh samjhenge tumhe, he will realise his mistake

Maddy*breaking the hug and facing her*: kab nandini? Kab aaega voh ek din? Are us ek din ke intezaar me I lost my sister dammit! She committed suicide kyuki GD ko uski nahi balki society kya sochegi uski zyada fikar thi. First he got her engaged with that bastard jisne use sirf dard diya, who harrased her mentally and physically and us din toh he crossed all his boundaries..he..he tried to r-rape her aur jab dida(maddy's elder sister) ne GD ko bataya toh unhone kaha ki ignore...(shouts) HE ASKED HER TO BLOODY IGNORE IT KYUKI HE WAS GOING TO BE HER DAMNED HUSBAND! HOW COULD HE!? how could he even say this nandini? (He started crying now) voh aisa kaise kar sakte hai? Unhone usse kaha ki she should ignore it kyuki the society would raise questions. How could he not care about his own granddaughter but the bloody society who don't mean anything to us! HOW!?

Till now he was in tears and even nandini was crying now remembering his sister whom she had met a year and half ago.

Maddy*still crying*: and upar se he has the audacity to say ki I should fort her. What does that man think of himself?

This was the real maddy, a tough nut to crack from outside but vulnerable from within, a broken soul who had no one to rely upon, to trust upon but nandini became that person, the only person in front of him he could show this vulnerable side of his because he trusted her blindly and even nandini was always there for him.

Maddy: do din baad dida ki de-death anniversary hai aur GD ne humesha ki tarha puja rakhne se manan kar diya but I won't listen to him aur na hi tum mujhe unki baat manne ko bologi

Nandini: ofcourse maddy, hum Di ke liye puja zaroor karenge. Acha now wipe your tears varna humare jo friends hai na voh tumhe questions puch puch kar pagal kar denge

She said trying to lighten up his mood. Maddy smiled a bit at this and both stood up wiping their tears and walked back to the canteen keeping a smile on their faces.

Canteen

Everyone was busy talking when maddy and nandini walked in and settled down on their respective seats. Both their eyes were red with all the crying they did but none questioned because they knew that they won't tell them anything. Abhi's heart pained seeing his sister so pale and his friend so vulnerable but he was helpless knowing how stubborn they were and manik, he felt as if something sharp had pierced his heart seeing nandini's red swollen eyes but he kept quiet.

Alia: guys now that you are back lets leave? Class shuru hone wale hai

Mukti: ha chalo lets get going

All nodded and stood up when manik pulled nandini aside and embraced her in a bare hug.

Manik: you fine?

Nandini: hmm

She hmmed tightening her hold on him and closed her eyes feeling his warmth calming her down. After a while manik broke the hug and pecked her forehead gently. Nandini closed her eyes feeling his touch.

Manik: by the way Ms. Murthy you still haven't answered my question ha? I will waiting

He whispered huskily down her ear making nandini smile. He winked naughtily at her and soon they both were off to attend their class with nandini finally smiling and manik by her side like always.

I know the chapter didn't have much of MaNan but it was important to show what bond maddy and nandini share. I hope you liked the chapter.
