Brewing Insecurities

He hesitated.

Nandini: Maddy bolo....you don't need to hesitate alright?

She said softly whilst he nodded. Maddy took a deep breath and started speaking.

Maddy: nandu I...

Nandini: wait wait....yeh main munchkin se nandu kab ho gayi ha? Looks like something is really bothering you

Maddy: uh...yeah

He said scratching the back of his neck. Nandini raised her brow, asking him to continue.

Maddy: nan- (nandini glared at him) munchkin I...I know ki you....I mean manik is your best friend and he is really important to you but you know right that you are very precious to me...

Nandini: tum yeh sab kyu bol rahe ho?

She frowned in confusion.

Maddy: trust me nandini, I will never come in between manik and your friendship but...but

Nandini*softly*: but?

Maddy: but I...I am scared to lose you. I know that I will always be your friend but somewhere I am scared to lose you

He confessed.

Nandini*confused*: lose me? Why?

Maddy: because I am scared that now you have manik with you so you will no longer need me. In these years when we were in NY I was always your ride to college, your ice cream buddy, the one who bore all your tantrums but now you have manik for all these and maybe I am not needed now but nandini please don't leave me. I don't want to turn into the madhyam singhania that I was before you entered in my life. I am sorry for getting so insecure and acting so stupid but you know my past...it isn't leaving me

He started rambling helplessly.

Nandini: Maddy

She called out softly.

Nandini: you are never going to lose me Maddy and no one....NO ONE can replace you ok? I have different equations with everyone and ours is also a complete different one which cannot be replaced kyuki nandini murthy ka har friend unique hai mister! And yes nandini murthy ki friendship is forever wali so Mr. Madhyam Singhania main tumhara peecha itni jaldi nahi chodne wali

She said playfully to lighten the atmosphere. Maddy's face cracked into a smile listening to her.

Maddy: ok mam!

He saluted her playing along and soon the both started laughing when suddenly Maddy hugged nandini.

Maddy: thanks munchkin. I really don't know ki agar tum na hoti toh mera Kya hota

Nandini giggled a bit and wrapped her arm around him, completing the hug.

Nandini: zyada kuch nahi bas tum ab tak vahi khadoos aur boring Maddy hote

She replied cheekily and Maddy grinned in the hug. All this was seen by a pair of eyes which were fuming in anger. Guess who? Yes, it was manik. He had come to the terrace finding nandini to talk to her after excusing himself from dhruv in the jam room and as soon as he reached there, he saw Maddy and nandini hugging which made him fume in anger. He was standing a little far so he could not listen to their talks but their closeness was affecting him badly. Unknowingly his fist clenched and he became angry.

Manik: nandini

He called her out a little too loudly and anxiously that made maddy and nandini break their hug.

Nandini: are manik tum kab aaye?

Manik: Abhi abhi

He said controlling his rage. Nandini smiled at him. That one smile of hers and all his anger was long forgotten.

Manik*calmly*: nandini I need to talk to you

Nandini: ha bolo na

Manik: alone

He said looking towards maddy and he got his cue.

Maddy: munchkin tum manik se baat karo...I will go search arya

He excused himself to which nandini nodded and the next minute he left the place leaving manik and nandini alone to talk.

Corridor

Cabir and navya were talking standing near a corner in the corridor. Their main topic of discussion right now was soha and her evil plans.

Navya: soha kitni chalaakh nikli na Cabir?

Cabir: ha I mean how can someone go to such an extent for just a mere obsession man! She is a psycho

Navya: I agree. Bechari nandu, uska toh birthday hi kharab ho gaya

She said sadly.

Cabir: are aise kaise. We will make sure ki uske birthday ke khatam hone se pehle alia maan jaye. Don't worry fab 5 will be back with a bang this time

He winked at her to which she giggled. At the same time Cabir's phone buzzed with a notification from mukti. He read her message and quickly replied back an 'ok'.

Navya: kiska message hai?

Cabir: mukti ka. Voh alia ko apne ghar leke ja rahi hai so chalo lets inform the others

Navya nodded and the both of them started moving towards the jam room while texting others to reach there soon.

Terrace

Manik: nandu I....um actually...I am sorry

Nandini*frowns*: sorry? But kyu? Tumne kya kiya?

Manik: voh whatever happened in the jam room....you know it was your birthday today and it was supposed to be your special day,  but....

He trailed off.

Nandini smiled at his concern. She patted his shoulder to gain his attention which was very much distracted.

Nandini: manik that does not matter and ya you don't need to apologise. They are even my friends and trust me I am really very happy today not because its my birthday....voh toh har saal aata hai. I am happy because this year I am celebrating it with you all and that's what matters to me ok? So chalo now smile. I don't like this dull manik.

Manik gave her his brightest smile and took her in a bear hug.
