The Pendent Part 3

~Okay just a warning; I don't remember where I was heading with this or what happened lately to the stuff I actually wrote a head of time. So tell me if this sounds okay, okay? Here goes nothing! ~

"Okay, I know something is going on and if you don't tell me sooner or later I'm just going to blow up!" I said dramatically. The looks on Cilia and John's faces were not just shock but also sadness.

"What do you..." Cilia was about to start when John just gave her a look that meant be quiet.

For a minute John just looked at Cilia in a way that you would've swore you saw invisible words floating through the air that only they can see. "Well, Baila, I don't think we should lie to you anymore. I mean, you've already found the pendant which more than likely means you're ready to hear what your mom and I have to say but before we start you might want to take a seat.

"Okay," I mumbled quietly into the intense yet quiet atmosphere. You could almost taste the tension in the air. John and Celia were both still sitting on the ratty old plaid couch looking outside into nothing. Their bodies were both stiff with tension.

"Where is there to begin?" Celia mumbled. Begin? Begin with what, what they have to tell couldn't be that long, or could it? "Well, let us start at the very beginning when you were still just an itty bitty baby. I'm sure you've already figured out that you were adopted, but I do know that you don't even know the depth of what a trouble it was. When John and I first got married, we wanted a child so very much. But for some reason, I couldn't conceive one. When we went to the adoption agency, the agent told us that it could be more that 5 years till we get a child! 5 years! Can you believe it? So, one night a business partner of your father's called and gave us the good news. There was an eight month old baby girl waiting to be adopted but it was going to be an unusual adoption. I was to sign the papers immediately and should expect the baby within 24 hours, 24 hours! I was so happy that I didn't even think about the weird transaction. As soon as I laid my eyes on you, I knew that you were meant for me and I was meant for you. You were just the most perfect baby I had ever seen. With rosy cheeks, emerald eyes, and dark brown hair, I just couldn't help but jump up on my feet and walk to you to get you from the man's arms. From then on, I loved you like you were my own." Cilia said with a dreamy expression on her face. For a minute, we all just sat there taking it all in. Then John cleared his throat.

"But that's not all of what happened. What Cilia just happen to leave out was all the weird stuff you came with. Right before my business partner left, he handed me an envelope and said I quote, 'Don't let her read it till she is ready and she has found the pendant" I had to ask, 'What pendant and may I read it' and he just nodded his head yes without answering my first question and walked out the door. I looked at the letter for a second than I heard you make a gurgling noise and I couldn't stand there with you only a few feet away. I sat the letter on the chair and walked over to you. Cilia was correct though, you were the perfect baby, but sadly we didn't see the trouble that would lie ahead. I probably should mention that I still haven't opened that letter. Anyways, whenever a witch would come into town he/she would always ask if they could see you. At first, we just thought that maybe they knew your real parents but it was so strange. They said that you were special in more ways than one. They also said that He knew you were here. Sadly, they were always vague about the "He" part. So, for the last couple of years whenever there is a magically creature around the neighborhood we move; as simple as that."

"As simple as that? That's not very simple from over here. And what is up with the letter and the pendant. May I see the letter?" I asked a little impatiently.

"Sure," says Cilia and John at the same time; they both got up at the same time too. They went over to a little chest and opened it up partway taking out a letter. "Here you go," says John. Right when I was about to open the letter we here a huge band followed by a crash.
