Coast City High

August 8, 09:00 CDT

Cyra let out an overdramatic, but understandable sigh as she looked up at the long building that had kids milling around it. The building was long and full off gossiping girls, rock-head boys, and annoying parasites known as teachers. You guessed it, the Hell Cyra was about to enter was high school.

She adjusted the collar of her shirt uncomfortably. She was wearing black jeans and a sweater with a collar and a crown on it. Her hair was up in a braid, is extremely right. The only reason she would ever put so much strain on her scalp was that her zealous mother wanted her to look nice for the first day of school.

"Come on, loser. Stop being overdramatic, it's just high school," Cyra heard the annoying voice of her older sister, who was in her senior year opposing her sophomore sister.

Cyra growled as her prissy sister shoved past her. Alexa was seventeen with the family trait of blonde hair but had inherited her mother's blue eyes. Her sister was the typical mean girl. Horrible to pretty much everyone, cheerleader, skinny, obsessed with looks, and a gossip and rumor spreader. Cyra hated her just as any siblings hated each other.

Alas, she has her positive parts. When Cyra had to sneak out to do her hero work, Alexa never asked questions and covered for her in exchange for Cyra to do the same for her. This caused a room switch and Alexa and Cyra to share a room for easier cover-ups.

Cyra glared at her sister before looking back at the building. The other three siblings followed after Alexa as her other three siblings were in middle school and elementary. Cyra slowly walked towards the school, trying to think of any excuse for her not to go to school.

I could fake being sick.

Break a bone.

Puke.

Pee my pants.

Pretend I was violently assaulted by a rabid squirrel.

Fake a story about Vandal Savage holding the school up.

Alas, Cyra knew whatever crazy story she could come up with her mom would easily see through and send her right back to school. Cyra hated her school. Mostly because of the idiots that went there and the knowledge that none of this will help her in life. She was going to be a Green Lantern, she didn't need to know about the war four-hundred years ago. But she couldn't tell anyone that, so she had to stick with this hellhole for another three years of her life.

It wasn't just the fact that Cyra had to go to school, but the fact that she was missing Beach Day with the team. That's right, she had to sit through seven hours of first-day teacher's talk instead of chilling at the beach with people she could actually stand. To make it even better, Kid Mouth would be at school far away in Central City. But luck wasn't on Cyra's side as she had school as well.

Cyra's first class of the day was Spanish, making her go through the whole first day of school speech that happens in every class. Same procedures repeated every hour, information for fire drills, etc. But, Cyra knew there was always one class that was different. The one class with a teacher that understood and they actually did something fun on the first day.

Cyra did not find that class.

It was only lunch when Cyra decided to Zeta-Beam herself into the nearest black hole and end her eternal suffering.

School was just as horrible as the young blonde had predicted. Teachers were all old and grumpy, seemed determined to call on Cyra for every answer she didn't know and make her feel stupid about it. The other students seemed bent on whispering behind her back and making comments about almost everything Cyra did.
