-Justin-

Boots? Who wears boots?

Apparently this whole town.

“What’s wrong?”

“Everyone’s wearing the same style shoes.”

“...Justin we’re at a rodeo.”

“And look here, I’m wearing supras.”

She rolled her eyes. “Hurry up we can’t miss this session, I need to get to the doctors after this.”

“Why are we going to the doctors anyway? None of us are sick.”

“Just hurry.”

-Sasha-

I had told Justin I wanted to go for a check up. I didn’t want him worrying about the real problem.

I stepped out of the range rover and Justin helped Lily out of the car. She was half asleep from her big day at the rodeo. It was her idea to go. Justin picked her up and held her in his arms as we walked in, her head resting on his shoulder as she drifted back to sleep.

The waiting room was practically empty and I could see the smirk on Justin’s face from the corner of my eye. Justin discretely fist pumped the air and made his way over to the chairs.

“Can I help you?”

I looked down at a young girl sitting at the front desk. Her hair was long and blonde, brushed over her right shoulder. Her blue eyes looked up at me waiting for my response.

I nodded. “My name is Sasha Skies; I’m here for my check up?”

“Uhuh...here we go.” her eyes remained fixed on the computer screen.

“Take a seat, the doctor will be out shortly.”

Justin was occupied by Lily who was slowly falling asleep in his arms. He was quietly telling Lily a story he was making up in his head.

“Once upon a time there was a mummy bunny and a daddy bunny. The daddy bunny was tough and was always with his friends. The mummy bunny was shy and never seemed to stay with the same bunnies much.”

“Why not?”

“I don’t know, maybe she was just afraid of losing them.”

Lily looked at Justin confused. “If she didn’t want to lose them, why did she leave?”

“People do weird things when they’re scared, Lily.”

Justin then proceeded to tell the story about the bunnies. “Then one day mummy bunny saw daddy bunny. She didn’t want to talk to daddy bunny but deep down she wanted to be his friend.”

He looked up at me and caught my blush, he smiled. This story wasn’t made up at all. It was our story.

“But as soon as she gave daddy bunny a chance, he promised he’d never leave her. She didn’t have to be scared anymore.”
