as soon as troye left, connor came scurrying up into the treehouse.

"that kid scares me, if we're being honest," connor chuckled nervously, as jacob just sat on the bed, his eyebrows furrowed as he tried to make sense of this whole thing.

"jake? you okay?" connor asked with raised eyebrows, looking concerned when jacob shook his head.

"we have to get out of here," jacob muttered finally. "now."

"but-"

"no, i don't know what this place is, but we have to leave!" jacob protested, and for the first time in his life, he was scared.

"i-okay..." connor nodded. "i'll get everyone together."

jacob stood up quickly, trying to ignore the fuzziness in front of his eyes as if he could faint. he didn't have anything to gather up, so he just simply climbed out of the treehouse.

when he got to the bottom, he was shocked to see troye standing there with his group, waiting.

"you're leaving?" troye asked, his eyes wide.

"yes. you can come, if you want."

"i...okay," troye said hesitantly, almost as if he doubted something.

"good. let's go before it gets dark out, then."
