Chapter 23: Clues and Discovery

Vincent

I was finally home, after six days of not being in this luxurious castle. I know it hasn't been long, but it felt like it, to me. As we drove up the pathway to the castle, I couldn't help but smile as I saw my family and all the other servants waiting for me. The moment I stepped out of the car, my mother and Genny rushed me into a hug.

"My little boy, you're finally home," my mum said into my chest.

I chuckled and pulled them closer to me. "Yes, I am, finally," I said, kissing my mother and Genny on their foreheads.

My father approached us as we pulled away from each other.

"Vincent, are you well? How are your sessions going," he asked with a hint of concern. I found this surprising as my father wasn't one to show concern. It happened rarely.

"Yes, father. And my therapy sessions are exceptional, but, I still have to go to my therapist three times a week. I just felt like today would be a good day to come back home," I answered honestly.

I'd gotten out of the hospital two days after that accident in my bathroom. I didn't want to go home immediately after I was discharged, so instead, I went into therapy in London. I hate to say it, but I have anger management problems, as well as jealousy issues. While there, I found out the true source of my problems was Folashadé. She was the main reason why I attacked Frank the way I did. She was the main reason I'd gotten so frustrated when I see her even speaking to another man. Dammit, she was the reason I had sleepless nights. But, you know what, I'm done with her. I'm done with everything-well, not everything. I will be there for my child, she can't take away my fatherhood.

Speaking of Folashadé, why was she nowhere to be seen? Had they fire her or something? I hope not, I mean, she is carry my child!

"Oh, we must celebrate your return! Shall we have a ball," my mother suggested excitedly as we started up to the castle's large doors. She's such an extravagant person.

"I'm not so sure if we'll need all that for my return, mother," I said in a nervous tone as I chuckled. I looked around the servants that treaded behind the four of us. Where the hell is this woman?

"Oh, but I insi-," my mother was abruptly cut off by my father's inquiry directed toward me.

"What are you looking for, Vincent?"

I snapped my head to look at him and saw that he was staring at me with watchful eyes, almost like he knew I was hiding something. Nonetheless, although I was slightly fazed by his mysterious stare, I immediately came up with the best lie that I could think of. "Where is Rodney?"

As the words left my mouth and thoughts, I couldn't help but realize that Rodney was, in fact, missing.

I heard my father grunt as he, himself, looked around. He turned to a familiar looking maid, Tiffany, I think, and ordered her and three other maids to find him. I would've asked her where the hell Folashadé was, but I remembered they had a little altercation.

"Fuck," I mumbled incoherently. Unfortunately, I wasn't low enough.

"Your language; maybe you should go back to that therapy session," my father scolded.

I laughed lightly and put my hands up in mock surrender. I just came back, not even half an hour ago, and I'm already being treated like an adolescent. "My apologies, father," I said.

"Perhaps we should just invite our closest friends to Vincent's Return Ball," I overheard Genevieve say. Why are they even planning this?

"So everyone will know our son has anger issues?! Miranda, Genevieve, I'm forced to believe you two have lost it," My father said incredulously. I'm starting to believe it myself.
