Jack's POV

"She's really leaving?" I gasp as my mother nods at me. We are currently in Dad's office, and he is sitting at his desk, sorting through a pile of letters from different provinces.

My mom nods. "I'm sorry, Jackson. I know you were fond of her."

"Good riddance. She was nothing but trouble." My father spats, his nose wrinkling up in disgust.

My mother ignores him. "She said after I told her that she was the princess she has to go, for her people."

"Her people are here!" I yell in despair. "Jackson, I know you love her, but she belongs to another country. You can't change that."

"But when she became a Selected, she became Illea's property. That's the rules-"

Father slams his fists onto the desk, a vein popping out of his forehead.

"Dang it, Jackson! Get it through your head! Your loyalty is to this country, not a filth-ridden princess! She is gone! Choose another of your precious Selected! Kaya, for example. She is a beautiful Two. Choose her."

"I will choose who I want to." I say sternly, standing taller.

Father angrily says,"It is my country."

      "And this is my Selection."

"Stop!" My mother pleads. I step back.

"I'm sorry, Momma." I bow my head in shame, folding my hands behind my back as I leave the room.

   •Hiccup's POV

"So you're really leaving?" I ask Elsa. She nods.

"I have to, Hic. It's my duty. I'm the next heir; I have to return."

"Doesn't stop me from missing you." She looks down, fiddling with her hands nervously. "Hic, about that-"

I cut her off. "I still love you, Elsa. I always will."

She shakes her head, eyes full with tears. "I can't." "What can't you do?"

"We can't be together. I-I think I love Jack." Her words pierce me like a thousand knives.

I just shake my head. "That's not true. I came here all this way for you, Elsa, so I know I still love you. I know you still love me; I can see it. It's not true. I know it's not. You still love-"

"Hiccup! No, I don't. I moved on. It's time you do the same." She sobs as she walks away to her room. I can see her shaking her head, sighing as I shake my own.

    "I still love you. Don't I matter?" I whisper.

   {the next day}

   •Elsa's POV

I'm about to step onto the plane with my parents, Anna behind me. We had reunited only moments before.

"I'd never imagined Mom had a sister." She said softly, looking at the queen and king. "Mom was actually our aunt. Then Toothiana took us in after they died." Anna looks at me, tears in her eyes as she looks back on the life we were leaving behind. It had been a rough road for both of us...but we both endured it with courage.
