sticks and stones
may break my bones
but words will never hurt me

what a lie

isn't it mother?

considering all the words

we used against each other

words don't fade and hurt more

bruises and cuts heal though

memories can't be erased

and words can't be covered

with bandages and casts

for broken legs and arms

or bruised ribs and burns

words said, burn differently

a fire inside your mind

that water can't put out

so it keeps on burning

till you can't take no more

remember all the things

we said to ignite the fire

not giving a second thought?

because they've been haunting me

for a lifetime

unlike the broken bones

that medicine can heal

i can barely make out my scars now
