Auni

"Today was weird with that male lion."

"Yeah, I've never heard such a thing. What lion is friends with jackals?"

Bahiya and I both laugh. It's late evening now. We walked up Pride Rock to the cave where the rest of the pride is now resting. We both turn going our separate ways to sleep with our own families. I lay down beside my brother Ishara who's snoring loud like a pig. I shake my head rolling my eyes.

Just as my eyes closed shut...

"Auni, wake up!" A voice whispers in my ear.

"Huh, what?" I ask, sleepily.

I blink open my chestnut eyes and see the Prince standing in front of me.

"Makosa?"

"Wake up Auni and hurry before everyone else wakes!"

I look confused. "Where are we going?"

He smiles and tip toe out the cave. "Where we always go at night, now come on!"

What? But, I thought Makosa's dad banned him from going out at night??

I got up quick on my paws and followed him outside. "Makosa, didn't your dad said you couldn't go out at night anymore?"

Makosa snorted and ran down Pride Rock. "He doesn't have to know that I left right? We'll be back before dawn!"

I felt unsure about this but still joined him. Either way, we're going to still get in trouble. Our parents are not fools. They were once our age once upon a time ago. At the bottom of Pride Rock my brother, Maha, and Bahiya are all waiting.

"What took so long?!" My brother asked, impatient. "We almost got caught by one of the night guards waiting on you two."

"Sorry, your sister was asking questions. Now let's go before we do get caught!" Said Makosa, running off leading the way.

We all ran behind him.

"Where are we going?" I ask, Maha.

"To scare some sleeping Buffalo." She replied, with an excited smile.

"What?! But that's so dangerous. We could get trampled by their strong hooves or stabbed by their sharp horns. Are you guys insane?!"

Bahiya shrugged. "Maybe or maybe no. But come on Auni, it'll be fun. We won't get killed trust me."

I sigh. "I guess..."
