Chapter 14

Alexis's P.O.V-
"What's up kiddo?" Asked Tobin as we sat down on the bench.
"Umm..."
"Its ok if you don't want to tell me." She quickly reassured me. "But before you start can I ask you something?
"Of course!" I replied faster than usual. A little shocked that she even asked. I mean Tobin is like a sister to me what do I have to hide?
"What happened? I mean why did you leave? Was it something with Kling because you know you could've came to me...-
"No! Meghan didn't do anything I-I was trying to help her."
"Help her? How was disappearing supposed to help her?" Asked Tobin. Maybe it the way she said it or maybe it was just me but the words came out a lot harsher then they were meant to and it complete caught me off guard.
"I thought you would understand! I guess I was wrong" I yelled as I rose to my feet. I knew my words had hurt her but I didn't care. Out of all people Tobin was always the the last person too judge me, but I guess that changed.
"Wait! I didn't mean it like that! Will you just listen to me?"
"What!" I sighed retreating to my seat. Partially because she asked but more so because I knew I couldn't afford to run again and lose anyone else. Because if I'm being completely honest Tobin was the last person I had.
"Lex you have to come back!"
"No! Meghan deserves to be happy and she can't do that with me around!""
I knew she wanted to tell how ridiculous I was being or how none of it made sense. But of course being Tobin she didn't instead she said, "Then stay with me."
"No" I replied but I secretly regretted it. I actually really liked the idea. But I knew it could never happen. I already screwed up Meghan's life why ruin Tobin's too.
"Alexis you can't just live on the streets. Let me help you!"
"No!" I yelled. If it one thing I learned from Tobin it's to protect the people you care about. And I have to protect her... from me.
She wanted to say something else, to convince me to stay, or bring me to my senses. But it was too late I was already at the door.
"I'm sorry." I sighed as I pulled my hat over my head and rushed out the door running again accidentally knocking someone down in the process
"Ow!" I heard a familiar voice call from below me. Shit!
"Umm I'm sorry ma'm" I whispered in the deepest voice I could come up with as she rose to her feet.
"Sorry I should've been-" she started before coming to a quick pause as if she'd seen a ghost
"Is there a problem?"
"No I-I'm sorry you just look a lot like someone I know."
"Oh well sorry." I replied before taking off in the other direction.
