Judy's eyes fluttered open. She looked over to see nurses unhooking the machines from Nick, and the crocodile doctor holding his hand and speaking gently to him.
The bunny gasped and jumped up from the chair. She started towards the fox, but a kangaroo stepped in front of her.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Wilde is being prepped for surgery now. You can't interfere, hun." She said gently.
Judy leaped around her. "I just want to see him!"
The kangaroo grabbed Judy by the waist and lifted her off the ground. Judy yelped in surprise and twisted in her arms.
"Let me go! Nick! Let go!"
The kangaroo held on, pinning the frantic bunny's arms at her sides. Tears streamed down Judy's face as Nick's bed disappeared out the door.
The kangaroo sat down on the chair, Judy still in her arms.
"It'll be okay, I promise. Mr. Wilde will be just fine."
Judy buried her face into the kangaroos chest as she stroked her back. Sobs wracked her body as one sentence played over and over in her head.
Nick is losing his leg.
