(Autumn) Chapter 28

Start from the beginning

Teacher Kyuru was confused. He didn't understand as to why the coach for Seihai Gakuen's team said that nor did he understand on why Gil called him a traitor. Teacher Kyuru doesn't know the fact that Kintoki Sakata and Gil Douji are father and son, since he only started teaching at Homurahara three years ago.

The rookie category was up first and all of the non-participants sat on their respective benches. It was Homurahara Gakuen versus a school from a city found on Southern Japan. Both kendokas showed promise but the participant from Homurahara was gaining the advantage.

As Hinako watches the match, she can't help but worry for Gil. She wanted to tell him beforehand that his father is the new coach of Seihai Gakuen but she didn't know how to break the ice. Plus, Gil might get irritated at her for meddling with his personal life, so she just remained quiet. Though, staying quiet didn't pay off as the golden-headed man was feeling distraught and uneasy, knowing that his father is here. He doesn't know on what to do as he can't contain the anger within him much longer.

"I'm going to step out for a bit," Gil said, standing up from the bench and starts to walk away.

"Where are you going, senpai?" Hinako asks, worried.

"Someplace where I can think properly," he bitterly replies.

"Should I come with-"

"Stay there, Suzuhana," and it was that instance that Hinako felt afraid for him. His tone of voice was that of a threatening anger. He doesn't want to shout inside the arena, let alone shout at her. "I just...need some time alone, okay?"

He left.

"Senpai..."

Asuto and Koujiro looks at Gil as he left the arena. They were worried for their captain, especially Asuto. He wants to know on what's going on in his best friend's head. Everything just had to become messed up on the day of the competition.

"We should have told him before coming here, Asuto-senpai," Koujiro said as he sighs.

"I know. Although, it doesn't make a difference, Koujiro-kun," Asuto looks down on the floor. "Whether we told him before or not, he'll still not take it to heart. What he needs now is closure...from his own father."

It was break time and everyone in the arena left to get some food since it was already twelve noon. Hinako stood up from the bench and fixes her bogu before walking out. She can't help but think about where her upperclassman is.

Hinako went outside of the building, where many food carts and stands were. The arena facade was brimming with people and somehow, Hinako can't choose on what to buy.

'There sure are a lot of food stands here. I can't choose,' Hinako thought as she walks around the area.

All of a sudden, Hinako heard someone crying. It sounded like a little kid's cry. She tries to pinpoint on where the sound was coming from.

"Huh?" She found the source of the crying and immediately went there. "Hello, little one. Why are you crying?"

"E-Eh?"

A little girl, around four or five, with a purple bob cut, looks up at Hinako with teary eyes. She has beautiful eyes and her small, cute dress adds the touch of cuteness. The little girl seems to be afraid of Hinako since she was a stranger to her.

"I'm not here to do anything bad, little one," Hinako smiles, bending her knees to meet the level of the small girl. "My name is Hinako. And you are?"
