                                               Chapter Twenty-Nine

"I don't care!" I told Zach, in my "stubborn" voice. "I want you here."

"It just doesn't feel right." He replied. "This seems like something for just your mom and you to do."

"Your the reason I'm still alive." I whispered just loud enough for him to hear. We were in an ultrasound room, waiting for the doctor. It was finally time to see what gender my baby was. Well, if he/she was in a good position. He sighed, looking quite tired. Lately he has been looking paler, and more tired by the day, but every time I asked about it he shooed it off by saying there's nothing wrong with him.

I took in a deep breathe, as I watched my mom. She looked as nervous as I was, she kept bothering me about rather I was keeping my baby, or giving he/she up for adoption. I still didn't know the answer to that, and I knew she was just worried I'd make the wrong decision and regret it later, but what was the right decision?

I smiled up at Zach, knowing I had won the argument. I hated it when I lost an argument. I took in a deep breathe, closing my eyes. I had been extra tired lately, my feet seemed to always hurt, I had the most annoying mood swings, and I cried over the stupidest things. The other day I spilt some juice, and started sobbing, it's like.. seriously?

The door swung open and my Doctor walked in. She smiled at me as she plopped down onto a stool.

"So, how are you doing?" She asked, writing things on a clipboard.

     "Good." I replied simply.

"Have you been feeling fine? Any strange feelings, anything that seems abnormal?" She glanced up from the clipboard.

"I've felt fine." I smiled. "Well, except for carrying around a huge belly."

She laughed. "Oh, I know how you feel." She grabbed the jelly and remote thingy. Carefully, she squirted some of the belly onto the remote. "Ready?"

I nodded, and pulled up my shirt to show my medium sized bump. Slowly she began to rub the remote all over my stomach, and I stared at the screen of the computer. At first only a blurry image came up, then I saw the familiar shape of a baby. The baby had a little fist raised up, and it's feet spread out underneath her/him. I had to admit that it was adorable.

"Can you tell what gender?" My mom asked, her eyes not leaving the computer screen.

"Hmmm...." She moved the remote around some more. "It's not very clear, but I'll keep trying.

My mom nodded, looking disappointed. That made me wonder if she wanted to have another kid, but maybe Lilly and I were enough.

I let out a small shudder as my doctor added more jelly to my belly, and I watched the screen some more. The baby began to move, turning a little bit more towards the remote, and spreading out more. Very slowly a small foot went up, and began to kick in the exact spot the remote was.

I gasped, holding back the urge to grab my stomach. That was my first time feeling my baby kick, and it surprised me, and of course reminded me that I had a living, breathing thing inside of me.

The doctor laughed. "She doesn't like us messing with her home."

I Smiled, and looked back to the screen. Then realizing what she had said, I whipped my head back to face her. "You said... Wait. I'm having..." I muttered, unable to finish a sentence.

"Yep, your having a little girl." She told me with a smile.

I closed my eyes, and felt Zach grab my hand. I let a smile show on my face. I was having a daughter..
