Chapter Nine
I froze, it was like every single thing inside my body broke into a million pieces, shattering. Nothing mattered anymore.
"Anna.." My mom whispered putting her hand on my shoulder. I jerked away from it. "Anna it's going to be okay."
I stepped back half dragging my ankle. I felt as if I couldn't breathe, this can't be happening, not to me... why me?
My mom stood up and walked towards me, but I backed away. "Anna, everything will be alright, I promise." Her voice was weak.
"No!" I screamed. Hot tears rushed down my face. "Your lying! Nothing is going to be okay! Can't you see that?"
I hit the wall with no where to go I slid down onto the floor. The tears wouldn't stop.
"Anna." This time it was a different voice. I looked up and towards the door, there was Zachary staring right at me.
"No." I whispered, burying my head into my lap.
I felt my mom's hands grab onto mine, I yanked them back like she had hurt me.
"She needs to see a counsellor." The doctor said. "Right away."
"No!" I screamed, my voice as loud as it had ever been.
I heard whispering but I couldn't tell what they were saying, then I heard two pairs of footsteps leave the room.
Another pair of hands grabbed me, but on my waist this time. Thinking it was the doctor I fought, but then a gentle voice made me stop the struggle. "It's okay." It was Zachary.
He slowly picked me up off the ground and into his arms like he had that day he saved me. I took my head from my hands and buried it into his chest instead.
He carried me out.
