(Author's Note) Hey, I know this chapter is quite short, and I'm sorry for that. I try to write every chance. So I hope you like Hope. :)
Chapter Nineteen
"Are you ready?" My mom asked me. We were outside the abortion clinic. I took in a deep breath, even though I was just going to look around, I was still nervous.
"Yeah." I replied. We slowly walked into the building.
The waiting room looked like any waiting room would. It had chairs, tables, magazines, and women sitting around. I followed my mom to the lady behind the desk.
"Hi, I called in yesterday about just looking around." My mom said to the woman.
"Yes, Mrs. Johnson?" She asked.
My mom nodded as the lady motioned us to follow her into the back.
"Okay, I'll just give you a little tour." She told us, making her way down the hall.
We turned into this room, as the lady spoke. "This is the room we abort the babies in."
I looked around, it kinda looked like a Doctor's office. There was a table with a computer on it, one of those beds you lie on except this one had a metal bar at the end.
"And this is what we use to get the baby out." She told us, holding up a object. It looked like a needle and a spoon. It was very hard to explain how it looked.
"What does the baby look like right now?" I asked her. "I'm almost eleven weeks."
She pulled open a drawer and pulled out two photos.
"Here's what the baby looks like inside of you." She said showing me one photo. It was an ultrasound of a little baby. It was small, but you could tell it was a baby.
"And this is it after we take it out." She said showing me another picture. This time it wasn't an ultrasound. It was a tiny figure of something dead. It was in a gloved hand, and you could hardly tell it was a baby from all the blood.
I stared at it, and immediately my body began to shake.
"Can we wait in the waiting room?" I asked my mom. She nodded.
We quickly returned to the waiting room, and I sat down. I looked around again, this time seeing the room in a different way.
There were women sitting there, waiting, or filling out forums. One woman was sitting there crying. She was alone. When a person from the back called her name, she started to cry even more.
My breathing deepened, and I shook harder.
My mom turned towards me. "Are you okay?"
I shook my head in a fast movement. "I want to leave.... now."
I felt like I was about to cry when we got up and hurried to the car. I got in and slammed the door behind me. Right when I got inside I broke into tears.
"There's a living thing inside me!" I cried, holding my stomach. "And.... they're just killing them! I can't do it.... I just can't."
My mom hugged me. "It's okay, sweetheart, you don't have to."
"I never want to go back there." I told her, as we began to drive away. It may have been a short visit, but I couldn't harm this thing inside of me. This baby.
