Chapter Twenty-One

Eric and I sat on my bed talking. It felt... right. I liked talking to him, but I felt like I shouldn't tell him anything private. Yes, he knows about being raped and everything, but something was telling me not to tell him anything else. I didn't know why, but I was going with my gut on this one.

"We should get to know each other better." I said to him with a smile.

He laughed, his hazel eyes shining as he did so. "What do you want to know?"

"Hmmm, what's your favorite color?" I asked him.

"That would be green." He replied. "Not the ugly greens, the grass green."

I giggled. "The ugly greens?"

He nodded, with a smile on his face. I swear if there was a contest for the world's cutest smile he would win. "What else do you want to know?"

"Uhmm, favorite thing to do?" I asked him. I didn't know why, but I felt the urge to get to know him a lot more.

"Video games I believe." He said to me.

"Haha, most boys do like those." I laughed.

"What's your favorite thing to do?" He smiled again.

"Read books." I said.

"Ugh, reading books is stupid." His smile disappeared.

"What do you have against people who do read them?"

"Nothing." He put on another smile, but I could tell it was fake.

"Uh, okay then."

"I have something to ask you." He said standing up.

'What is it?" I asked. Should I stand up? I thought and decided to stay sitting.

"Do you want to go out with me?" He said confidently.

Did I want to go out with him? I didn't know. So I said the only thing that would come to my mind. "Yeah, that'd be great."

He smiled. How much could one guy smile in one night? "Prefect." He said to me. It sounded... strange. I didn't know why.

"I have to get going, but met me at Lulu's cafe tomorrow at five?" He asked, grabbing his stuff.

"Okay." I said with a smile as he left my room. There was something bothering me.... I didn't know if my smile was real, or fake...
