Chapter Six
After everything was said they asked me like a million questions, and Julia like nine thousand, then finally left. The pain was still pretty bad, but I ignored it as Julia and I chatted. For awhile it seemed like things were back to how they were but I knew they could never be the same between us. We would still be best friends, but she would always have that guilty feeling inside her. While I can never be the same, I will always act like nothing changed in me, but something did, and that something was big.
As we giggled at something Julia said someone walked in. He was a tall man with dark brown hair, and looked amazingly tough. I stared at him, I remebered his eyes from somewhere.... then all of a sudden a lightbulb lit in my head. This man who had just walked into my hospital room was my father. My real father. He had left my mom and I when I was nine, I tried to find a way to talk to him again but he ignored us completely. It had hurt me bad, but it helped some when my mom remarried and had my beautiful little sister Lilly.
"Anna!" He exclaimed as he walked up to my bed, Julia stared at him confused.
At first I couldn't find my voice, and when I did it came out in a whisper. "What do you want?"
"What?" He asked me. "I heard about what happened to you, and I wanted to be here for you."
Anger flared through my aching body. "Since when do you want to be here for me? I haven't seen or heard from you in five years!"
"Anna.... I feel really bad about that, I really want to make it up to you."
"You can never make it up to me, I don't even count you as my father anymore."
"Then who is your father?"
"The man who has been there for me when you haven't! Jack, my mom's new husband, which I say is a lot better than the last one."
"How can you say that?" I saw sadness in his light blue eyes.
"How could you leave your nine years old daughter?"
"You know what! I don't need this."
"And I don't need you! So I suggest you leave, because your not wanted here.." I felt like I should feel bad as he stormed out of the room, but honestly I didn't. He had ruined a part of my life then, and there was no way he could make that up now.
Julia looked at me, she was sitting there silently the whole time. Turning towards her I told her, "I don't want to talk about it.."
She nodded, saying bye she left to get something to eat. I switched on the television as my mom walked in.
"I heard what happened." She told me taking the seat Julia was sitting it before she left.
"I really don't feel like dealing with the speech saying how rude I was." I told her stiffly.
"I think what you did was right." She told me, and I was quite surprised. "He can't just walk in and act like he can make up that long time this quick, but we don't need to worry about it because he has already left."
"Yeah, well mom I'm tired can I get some sleep?"
"Okay, sweetheart I'm gonna go home and get some myself." She kissed my forehead and left.
I turned the volume on the t.v. almost all the way down and made myself comfortable. I felt as if right when I closed my eyes I could fall into a deep sleep, but before I could I sensed someone at the door of my room. Looking over I saw a young man with black hair, and green eyes looking at me. He was extremely handsome. I recognized him as the blurry image I had in my head, right away I knew who this was. This guy was Zachary. All of a sudden I didn't feel so tired anymore.
