And then, that was it. Everything in Penny's world began to fall apart as she heard the articles and reports forming like violent white noise. She quickly found out that he had lied to her about the bombing. Then, she found out how much of his life he was hiding from her. She felt lied to, betrayed.
Lex Luthor really was the monster of a man Lois told her he was. Yet she was still reluctant to give up on him. She was still reluctant to fully admit to herself that she had been wrong about him. She wasn't one to fully accept it until she visited him one last time.
