The sequel be narrated by Augustus. A healer and the youngest member of the Court. Often overlooked by his peers for his kinder tendencies, he finds himself at odds with them as the war goes on. Not as action-y as the last excerpt I did, but you get to experience what happens behind the scenes with the Court first hand. This is 3 weeks before Celeste's visit to the Court so the story's will kind of overlap, but not for long.

Augustus has a very strong sense of right and wrong and his very passionate about standing up for what is right. His personality is kind of similar Daisy Lynn's but he has his own quirks. I'd say they're both kind hearted people, but he's willing to go much further than she is in many aspects(it kind of comes to with the territory of being a Court member) and he expresses his emotions much differently. He's a lot different from Celeste, who definitely puts self preservation above all and bases her moral compass on that. She's only willing to go so far before she calls it quits. So I think that's all I have to say, the sequel be up when it's ready. Whenever that is.

Philomene rapped her fingers against the arm rest of her seat. Her dark eyes followed me as I sat down a few seats away from her. I pushed back the nervousness I felt around her. If there was anyone that had nothing to worry about when it came to Philomene's abilities then it was definitely me.

"I see you and the others fail to understand punctuality," she said.

"Our visitors have not arrived yet. There's really no need to be here until they do."

She scoffed.

"Maybe we should be discussing our options and actions we should be taking against them. Enforcers should be able to hold off the humans better than this. They should not come running to us in the manner in which they are."

I rose an eyebrow.

"You do realize that the entire reason we have a Court or even a hierarchical system at all is because we wanted to protect ourselves from humans? Surely as you've been a Court member for at least my entire life. Or is you apathy toward the fait of our fellow Unknowns a result of your refusal to let past events die away as they should?"

Philomene's face curled into a sneer and her normal calm (yet dark) composure evaporated. I watched as her fingers turned into a dark black and heavy smoke escaped from her mouth. It wasn't really smoke, but the noxious air she breathed that could kill anyone who encountered it. I was probably the sole exception to that.

"I don't want a fight Philomene. And neither do you. Besides you and I both know it would likely result in a stalemate. And on the off chance that you did happen to prevail you would never escape Amarande's wrath," I said.

"She is far past her prime. You know just as well as I do that it would be no surprise if she were to fall over dead any day now," she paused for a moment.

"I wouldn't even be surprised if some unwieldy Unknown came along and did the job him or herself," she continued.

I narrowed my eyes at her.

"How could you speak like that?"

Saying something like that would be considered treasonous for any other Unknown. That was the quickest way to be killed by the Supreme herself.

Philomene shrugged.

"Pain and suffering do not bother me, Augustus. I embrace death. It is my every day. I live it every moment."

"If that is true then why are you still so emotional about-"

"I see you two have managed not to rip each other's throats out. What a surprise," Leona said interrupting me.

I noticed Frederick and Winston coming in behind her. They each took their seats.

Frederick looked at his watch after a few moments.

"Still no Sebastian."

"Still no Sebastian," Frederick look up to see Sebastian walking in. They had both spoken at the same time. You would have thought Sebastian was trying to be funny, but he hardly ever laughed. I'd never even seen the man crack a smile.

He sat down mere moments before the Enforcers that were coming to speak with us arrived. His eyes scanned all of us, the arm of the clocks in his pupils ticking each second away.

"Let's get this over with," he sighed, leaning back into his seat appearing to resign himself as he usually did.

No one seemed to be taking this seriously, but I felt it was time that we start.
