Celeste POV

A long time passed before I finally demorphed and decide to face things as a human again. I wanted it all to go away, but until this war was over it just wouldn't happen.

I found a small coffee shop that wasn't too far away from the compound. Food didn't really interest me, so I sat out their deck that was outside. After a few moments a server came to check on me.

"What get I get you started with?" He asked. He was definitely a little older - he had a full head of hair that was partially grey.

"I'll just have a glass of water," I said. It wasn't like I really had money to pay them. Still, I could always skip out like how I'd done before, I just wasn't sure if I wanted to do that.

He left and came back with my water not too long after.

"You don't seem to be in high spirits," he noted.

"Not much to actually be happy about these days," I said taking a sip.

"You mind me asking what has you down?" He asked.

I shrugged.

"I'm a selfish person who can't push past my own interest when the people I care about are in need." I wasn't deceived by myself.

He blinked a few times.

"Well, what is it that your loved-ones need?" he said.

I chewed it over. In reality all of our problems would be gone if this war was over. We'd be able to fight back easier if the humans didn't obtain that poison that could easily kill nearly all of us. What would we do when they finally started utilizing it?

"They need a miracle," I sighed.

"From the sounds of things you can provide said miracle."

"At this point I'm not so sure."

"Hm. Tell you what - you order whatever you want and it's on the house. Can't make miracles happen on an empty stomach."

"Wow. Thank you," I said shocked.

"No problem. And cheer up a little. You seem like you have a good head on your shoulders - you just need some time and direction. Smile too. I'm sure it'll brighten someone's day," he said before letting me choose what I wanted to eat and place my order.

Once the food came I realized I was hungrier than I originally thought. I gobbled it down with surprising speed(it's wasn't like the meal was huge though- it was still a coffee shop). As I was finishing up my last few bites, I noticed this film beginning to accumulate on the table. I used a finger to wipe it up and it had a strange consistency.

Then a loud roar sounded in the sky. I looked up and saw a huge aircraft flying up above just a little too close for comfort. This couldn't be good.

I watched as mist was sprayed down from the sky and covered the ground. Then I watch in horror as a handful of people collapsed to the ground gasping for air. They coughed violently to the point where blood came up. Next they began to painfully lose control of their bodies. I watched in shock as their life was taken from them violently and the died mere moments after they had been perfectly fine.

It didn't take a genius to figure out what was happening.

Those people had been Unknowns. And that mist was the human's adaptation of the poison.

The server came back out not too much after that.

"Are you okay out here?" He asked.

"Yeah - but they aren't" I said pointing to the street. He involuntarily took a step back.
