Chapter 18

Dr: And there he is

Nicki: He?

Dr: That's right you're having a little boy 

Nicki gave a smile and could already feel the tears threatening to leave her eyes.

Dr: And he's growing perfectly too

Nicki: I'm glad to hear

she wiped a tear that was making it's way down her cheek.

Dr: Have you experienced any difficulties in your pregnancy ? over excessive cramps? anything in particular that you feel shouldn't be happening or have any questions about ?

Nicki: Not really, i feel like everything is happening as it should

Dr: That's alright then. Let me go and print off these new pictures for you and you'll soon be on you way

He gave her a small smile before heading out and she kindly returned it.

Nicki stood and gave Milan a hug before they both took their seats at their table in the Italian restaurant.

Nicki: how have you been, it's been ages

Milan: I've been good, but i should be asking you. How's the pregnant life

Nicki: It's good. Not gonna lie, I love it 

Milan: Aww,I can tell. Look at this glow you have 

Nicki just laughed.

Nicki: I'm not glowing, you're just making that up

Milan: I am not and you know that.

They both laughed before they were interrupted by a waiter coming over and taking their drink and food orders.

Milan: so how's it been going with drake's case? I heard they gave you a date

Nicki: It's been going alright I guess. It's running smoother than I thought it would so that a good start I guess. I just need to make sure everything is worked out with him and everyone else involved because I don't want this to go wrong

Milan: Yeah I can understand where you're coming from. Carlos still feels so bad because he failed this case and it put two people he's so close with in such a situation

Nicki: aww bless him, tell him that he shouldn't. He did the best he could and that's all that mattered. It was also drakes fault in a sense because he refused to give up some of the blame. It's a difficult situation but we'll sort it out soon. Aside from that how are the kids

Milan: They're alright they miss you 

Nicki: Tell my little munchkins I'll be over soon to see them

Milan: I'm sure they would love that

Nicki put on her hoodie and Ugg boots before she grabbed her keys and headed out of the house. She made sure to set the alarm and lock everything before she headed out and drove to Robert's apartment. They hadn't spoken since their meeting at the warehouse but he had called her earlier that day ad said he had something for her to work with so she decided to go and see him. She had called Noah and got for him Abel and Jahron to meet her there so she wasn't alone. 

By the time she arrived they were waiting my the entrance to the building for her. She got out of her car and went to join them. They buzzed and waited for him to let them in which didn't take too long. They took the stairs up to his house where they found the door was already open and waiting for them. They walked into the apartment and were greeted by many pairs of eyes.

Robert: Glad to see you could make it

Jahron: we're not here to talk 

Nicki just stood observing refusing to get involved in an argument she didn't want to be a part of.

Noah: what do you have for us

Robert: These are your victims, and I feel they fit the descriptions very well. And over here we have your witnesses. If you wanna mess with the judicial system you've gotta do it right 

They just stood and observed.

Nicki: so do they all know their story 

Robert: Just about, we've had a couple slip ups but I'm sure they all know what they're talking about now 

Noah: This ain't no game Robert

Robert: I don't see where your problem is, I'm doing as you asked me

Nicki: And that's all we want from you. Just make sure they know there story. If even one word of what they're saying is unbelievable then this whole case will go up in flames. And if anything goes wrong with this case, a lot will go wrong in your personal life, but I don't want for it to get that far

Robert: and I understand that. I'm doing my best

Nicki: Good to know. Anything else you've got for us, that we need to know 

Robert: He need to change his story slightly as well...

Nicki walked into the place that was no becoming too much of a common destination. She went through the security process before heading to the room where she would meet with Drake. She sat by the table and just waited for them to bring him in. It didn't take long, and once he was brought in they sat him down opposite her and backed away to give them their space. 

Nicki: Everything is going as it should do so far, I met up with Robert yesterday and we went through what's going to happen on the day. He's got everything sorted on his side, but there's a few adjustments that need to be made on our behalf.

Drake: What kind of adjustments

Nicki: Ones that concern the night everything happened.

It was difficult for her to get her point across to him especially because they were being closely watched and listened in on. He looked at her slightly confused and she bit her lip and she went through her folder containing the basics of what Robert had explained to her last night.

Nicki: Here have a quick read through this

He took the sheet of paper from her and began reading through, trying to make sense of the situation.

Nicki: does that jog back your memory for what happened that night

Drake: Yeah, I remember most of it, I'm sure there some parts that I might not recall but the witnesses can help with that right

Nicki: I'm sure they can 

They shared a small smirk.

Drake: That's alright then

They continued on and she explained to him a few of the other parts of the case and how they would present it before their time came to an end. He walked over her and pulled her into and embrace whilst she wrapped her arms around his neck. He spoke gently into her neck knowing he wouldn't be seeing her for another two weeks.

Drake: how are you 

Nicki: I'm good, we're both good.

Drake: Good, and more news on the little one

Nicki: nothing you don't already know He's growing very well according to the doctor.

She made sure to put emphasis on the word 'He'. Drake pulled away and gave her a kiss on the temple before smiling at her.

Drake: and that's all I could ask for.

She smiled back at him and watched as they dragged him out, with the last thing she saw being the massive smile on his face, which warmed her heart.

She decided to go and spend the rest of the day with Courtne and the girls as she didn't need to go back into work and had nothing else scheduled.
