BTS' History (2014)

2014 Idol Olympics

On January 14, 2014, BTS participated in the Idol Sports Olympics. They passionately competed in various competitions, testing their physical strength and athletic skills. Unfortunately, because of a relapse in his condition, Suga couldn't attend, due to a re-hospitalization, therefore the members used a bear to represent him. Suga tweeted to the members, "Hello, it's Suga. Hey guys, take good care of that teddy bear that is with you in my place... And please don't leave it behind." Later, the memebers replied and tweeted: "It's V. The kid wasn't listening well so I taught him a lesson!! Now, he is listening well." The members took good care of Suga bear, while having a lot of fun in the process (playing with the bear as if it was real :D). The two (the real Suga and the bear-Suga were later reunited through a post (picture) in their account.   

Four New Comer Awards

In mid January, 2014, BTS was invited to the 28th Golden Disc Award ceremony after being nominated for "The New Comer Award". They successfully won this award. In total, the Rookie Award for the Golden Disc Awards, the Seoul Music Awards, the Gaon Chart KpopAwards, and the Melon Music Awards and 2nd YinYueTai V Chart Awards. All together, they won seven New Comer Awards, they already have two in 2013.

Skool Luv Affair 

On January 15th 2014, Big Hit Entertainment surprised ARMYs by tweeting, "BTS will return with newmini album on February 12."The tweet created more questions than it did answers. It wasn't until weeks later that the concept for their comeback was revealed. BTS would come back with the album, "Skool Luv Affair" focusing on emotions most teenagers feel when they're in love. They spent several months, with each member working on composing the melodies and lyrics for the tracks for their album. 

On February 2, 2014, nearly a month after the come back was first announced, the very first teaser was revealed. Preparations for the come back were intense. Suga had worked on most the lyrics while he was in the hospital. While filming the music video for Boy In Luv, J-Hope reportedly fainted from exhaustion.The members continued to work hard, then had their show case on February 11, 2014. Later that day,the music video for "Boy In Luv" was released. JungKook mentioned that inspiration for the group's title track, "Boy In Luv" was inspired SNSD's Taeyeon. During the Golden Disc Awards, she said, "I like manly men" and while preparing for their comeback, they remembered her words and choose "Boy In Luv" for their title track. Later that month, they met Taeyeon backstage during a music bank and thanked her personally for inspiring their song. They tweeted, "[We're] With Taeyeon sunbaenim who played a big role in helping us decide on the name of our title track!! We saw her at 'Music Bank." They would spend the next two months promoting "Boy In Luv" and their second promotion song "Just One Day", which had a music video for it revealed two months later. 

During their promotions, they were nominated for the very first time on Music Bank. However, despite only being nominated and not taking home the award, the members are still hoping to win in the future.  

School

On March 1, 2014, the 95er (95z) line, Jimin and V released a song called, "95 Graduation". They took to twitter and tweeted: "A graduation song to celebrate our graduation- I'm shy ><"  The song's lyrics expressed their love for their classmates, they spoke about how hard they were going through school while trying to debut, and they apologized for not being able to attend their graduation, due to their promotions. Later that month (March 4), the members accompanied JungKook on his first day of high school and tweeted: "I've entered (high school)". The members expressed how proud they are of JungKook. Later they tweeted: "Today, Jeon (JungKook) manager is buying the food!!!!! Kiyah!!"
