An Amazing Friday Night

I answered my phone
"Hello?"
"Hey girl! How's Alabama treatin you? Any rednecks yet?" It was Sydney!
"Oh my god hey Sydney! Sadly no rednecks"
"Aww man. If you see one make sure to send me a picture. Ok?"
"Ok.." I said with a laugh "I can't believe I haven't told you yet!"
"What is it girl?"
"Well. Promise you won't scream?"
"No promises"
"I have a boyfriend!!" I said excitedly
"OH MY GOD!!" I hear her shout with excitement
"What's his Instagram? I wanna stalk!"
"Drew.23"
"I'm guessing his name is Drew"
"Yep. He's amazing. He kissed me the other day..." I said with a grin.
"HOW THE HELL DO YOU HAVE YOUR FIRST KISS BEFORE ME?" She screamed
"Apparently I'm not awkward here he thinks I'm cute smart and funny."
"Keep him forever boo. I have to go. Nathan and I are going to ride around Publix in shopping carts."
"Love you Sydney. Miss you."
"Bye!"
I was so happy that she called. I haven't thought about my friends at home in a long time. I miss doing my awkward things with my awkward friends. But I have popularity and a boyfriend now. Why do I feel so sad? After that phone call I start to become depressed. Everything is sad to me. I'm homesick. I start crying silently by myself in my room. Hoping no one will hear me.
Ding ding
My phone goes off. It's a text
"Hey beautiful😘❤️"
~Drew~
I open my phone and answer
"You must be texting the wrong person. I'm not beautiful..." I answered
"You're not. You're gorgeous.❤️"
This is why I love him
"You make me feel so happy. Thanks for everything"
"No problem😘"
"thanks for bringing me to my happy side"
"You homesick?"
It's like he can read my mind
"Yeah. A little bit. My old friend just called me. I miss them a lot...."
"Maybe when we graduate we can take a trip to California and visit."
"I'd love to. I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else😘"
"I have to go. Baseball tryouts."
"Good luck! Love you!❤️"
I turned off my phone and watched the rest of my YouTube videos.

Friday came and I was super excited. Drew picked me up at 7 and we went to dinner at this wonderful Italian restaurant.
"This place smells absolutely amazing!" I exclaimed as we walked through the front door. The whole place smelt like fresh baked bread and tomato sauce. The place was dimly lit and had candles on every table. There was a display case full of cakes and pies that led to their kitchen. We sat in on of seats in the back. No one else was there. He pulled out my chair like a gentleman. I sat down and I saw him staring at me.
"Why are you staring at me?" I ask
"Because you're beautiful." He says with a smile
"Oh don't go all The Fault in Our Stars on me." I replied.
"So what do you want? Pasta, ravioli, pizza, calzone, you name it they have it." He looked up at the menu and smiled
"I think I want some ravioli." I said closing my menu.
The waiter comes up to us and takes out order. We laugh and talk the whole time. About anything that came to our minds
"So how's dance going?"
"Great so far. We aren't doing anything challenging. All the same. How's baseball for you? When do you find out if you got on the team?" I ask
"Well baseball is my favorite sport. I tried out for pitcher and I think I nailed my tryout." He sounded like he was really into what he was talking about.
"I bet you'll get it!" I responded
"Have you heard about the musical? The whole school is allowed to try out!" He said excitedly.
"What are we doing?" I ask with interest
"A Tribute to High School Musical" he projects "I want to be Troy, hopefully you'll try out and be my Gabriella?" He said taking my hand
"Of course." I said with a smile. He leaned in and kissed me. He's so nice and sweet. How could he actually like a girl like me? Our food came out right after that
"Don't eat it too fast!" He said with a laugh
"Haha very funny!" He said teasing him
We laughed talked and ate until it was time to go. He drove me home and we still talked about the musical. How we already know each song. Drew pulled up to my house and opened my door for me. He walked me up to my front door
"Thank you for tonight. It was amazing!" I said with a huge smile
"No problem. I'm glad I could share it with you." He said while taking my hands. I turned my head and blushed a little bit. He leaned in and kissed me. His soft lips against mine made the whole world stop. Like it was just him and I. It's cheesy but true. He's truly amazing. We ended our kiss with a hug. He kissed my forehead and opened my front door. I turned back and thanked him again for an amazing night. I watched as he drove away and though how could my life be any better? I took a shower and went straight to bed. I laid there just thinking how magical tonight was. I picked up my phone and texted Drew.
