While pulling into my driveway with Emily, all I could think about was Drew Cayce and I hanging out tomorrow. I couldn't wait I was practically shaking. Drew was right. I didn't expect to make friends on my first day. I thought there HAD to be something wrong with one of them. They were too perfectly normal and outgoing. What could they see in me? Right when I got into my house I ran upstairs into my room and started to write my paper when I heard a scream coming from the hallway. I ran outside of my door and saw my sister sitting on the stairs holding her ankle. "Oh my god! Emily!" I screamed as I ran over to her. "What the hell happened?" I screamed with worry. "I...I....was running.....up the...stairs and......my ankle rolled...over..." She said in between shouts of pain and sobs. Our parents weren't home so I scooped her up and held her bridal style and ran to my car. I laid her in the back seat and took her phone. I called mom and dad on my phone and searched for directions to a hospital on hers. "Hello?" My mom said through the phone
" mom I'm headed for the hospital with Emily."
"Would you like to tell me why?"
"She rolled over her ankle and fell."
"Emily?" I asked "can you feel your leg?"
"Not at all!" She screamed with worry.
I put the phone back to my ear and told mom "we're headed for the hospital come when you can." I hung up and listened to the directions Emily's phone gave me. I hurriedly parked and picked up Emily and took her to the front desk. "We'll send her to a room in 5 minutes." The lady at the desk said.
"O...ok..." I said while taking Emily over to a seat.
*10 minutes later*
"You're Emily, right?" The nurse asked pointing to her.
"Yes." Emily replied. I picked her up and followed the nurse to a room. I was told to put Emily down and sit in the other room. They were doing an X-Ray on her foot. The doctor and nurse came back 10 minutes later with the news.
"Your sister's ankle is broken. We will put a cast on it for about 6 weeks. Bring her every 2 weeks so we can see if there's any progress made." Said the doctor
"Ok." I replied being very quiet. I'm not used to these situations. "We'll cast her up and you can be on your way." The nurse said to me then walked out to cast up Emily's foot. Issa her next with a purple cast on her foot and crutches.
"Come on Emily." I said to her
We walked to the desk while my mom was coming in. She payed for everything and we went home.
"Alex?" Emily said to me breaking to silence in the car.
"What?" I replied
"Thank you." She said with a smile
"No problem kiddo." I patted her head after I said that. Tomorrow was the last thing on my mind at that moment.
